Devastation is dead at least on PvP

  • Devastation
    • Developers’ note: We are reducing the effectiveness of Mastery: Giantkiller and adding a health floor for the damage bonus. The goal is to bring some damage out of Dragonrage due to the talent Tyranny and make Devastation less reliant on hitting high health targets, while still retaining the flavor and gameplay of the Mastery. This makes them less bursty in PvP and allows them to be more flexible in raid and dungeon content. To compensate for the reduced damage during Dragonrage, we’re increasing Devastation’s overall damage as well.
    • All damage increased by 5%.
    • Mastery: Giantkiller reduced by 25%. For example at level 70, 180 Mastery rating now grants 1.5% Mastery (was 2%). In addition, damage no longer falls off once the target reaches 30% health.

well folk that was fun the mastery now will be useless i mean how the f?%$ they want to play the devas spec and the spec will do no damage in PvP we get it blizz you don’t devas in pvp

Devastation absolutely cranks damage out in pvp and shouldn’t have been relying on the stupid gimmicky one shot for so long. Nerfing the top end of mastery and shoring up the low end to improve kill potential, especially outside cooldowns, is something that needed to be done a long time ago.

we can’t no longer one shot anything in pvp btw they removed that in 10.1 and devas are incredibly squishy in PvP once he hover is all used you are dead

In response to the last change I spent most of the season playing a haste set, and it wasn’t even remotely as good as when I swapped back to mastery. This change gives us an overall compensation buff that is only 1% smaller and also implements a floor to the damage fall-off. Mastery is still almost definitely still going to be the best stat for PvP, and in general this will probably be a net buff for us.
