Devastation in PVE

Hey, everyone!

I’m not whining, I’m just upset about being average or below as a damage dealer in raids (single target bosses) and M11+.

I have no idea how specializations are balanced in PvE, but it seems to me that it is obvious that there are specializations from different tiers, there are logs, info from players, why Blizzard does not change this idk, although I have been playing for 20 years and do not understand why I am still surprised.

Devastation being average in raid for a tier is whatever to me, since we’ve had moments in this tier of being very good and have been a great overall spec in every raid since evoker has existed.

I wouldn’t hate them being a little better in m+, but I don’t expect blizz to give offensive buffs based around high keys.

The bigger problem is that flameshaper is a dookie design, boring as hell, and turbo weak.

I’d very much like to see them make both hero builds closer more than I think we need overall damage buffs. It’s fun to be able to play both as Aug and not be inting.

We’re kind of middle of the pack, which is a good place to be but the main thing is that Scalecommander has contributions that only show up in logs (the Augvoker problem) and Flameshaper, the pure DPS rather than support DPS hero spec, is entirely reliant on engulf crits to even compete as its sustain is a lot lower with all of the power focused into one button with high variance.

Flameshaper needs a rework imo. It flows fine on extended single target/cleave fights, but in any other scenario, using engulf is very awkward.

They also can’t really buff the spec in any meaningful way other than buffing engulf. Unless they want to buff enkindle.

Agreed.

The only other meaningful way I could think would be to make engulf make dots do “X% more damage for X seconds” after using it or something so that the power isn’t tied to hoping for engulf crits because it does all the dam (and gives a bit more skill expression around not just hitting engulf twice in a row. That doesn’t really make it feel better outside of extended encounters though.

I think a complete redesign is sort of needed.
