Devastation evoker tips

hi sorry to bother everyone been a few weeks since I returned to wow for DF been playing my evoker and I like it so far. Thing is I suck lol I don’t feel I’m doing as much damage i look up some rotation still my damage is low like 20k and in boss fights like 35k. My item level is 361. My usual rotation is dragonrage, fire breath then surge after that use on pyre on aoe and in boss fight disintegrate. Also is there any point in stacking to 20 to use it. Hope you guys can help me been just a few weeks since i returned thanks in advance.

i mean… you answered your own question.

also, keep in mind you always have to hit the target with higher % hp. devastation evokers are giantkillers. Also dont pop cds on pull, it’s kind of a waste. just do your normal rotation once the boss goes down 20/25%'ish pop cds to take advantage of your mastery.

Posting questions like this in the class forum will yield better results.

This contradicts this

You absolutely pop cds at the start so you get the damage bonus within the giant killer window.

on bosses? no
on trash? yes.

Your main CD gets its chief benefit by making your mastery apply regardless of boss %. It doesn’t make much sense to use it when you’re getting the full benefit of mastery already.

Make use of Hover. It alone makes you perhaps the single most mobile caster in the game. Also remember that there is no point in fully charging fire breath or the arcane talented spell I forget what it’s called unless the mobs aren’t going to live long enough for the DoT portion of fire breath, or there’s a larger group of mobs for the arcane spell. Fire breath does the same damage regardless of charge, charging it just frontloads the damage into a bigger burst while taking away from the DoT damage. Charging the arcane spell talent doesn’t increase its damage at all, it just increases the number of mobs it can hit. That being said, Tip the Scales works well with the arcane talent even on single target because you instacast it.

I’ve not leveled me Evoker since the prepatch so I couldn’t say for sure what has changed since then otherwise but I do recall the bulk of my damage came from Disintegrate.

Let preheat know you know more than he does.

thanks for the replies guys so basically have to make use of the giantkiller perk and mastery one thing i have question about is pyre do i have to wait to stack 20 to use it or normal usse it in aoe.

do you even read whats in there?

he does say the exact same thing i’m saying here. DELAY DRAGONRAGE, jesus…

Read it:

Note: In some cases you will want to delay your first use of Dragonrage.

Your an idiot and cherry picking the guide. It says hold it if you can’t fit a second dragonrage inside the kill and no blood lust is available. If lusting dragon rage at full hp.

Yeah i’m not sure why you didn’t continue reading like, literally the next 3 lines lmao

Probably because OP is doing dungeons not raid bosses, why would you instantly pop dragonrage on a dungeon boss and get 0 benefit off it when it dies so fast.

If it’s going to be up for the whole boss fight wouldn’t that be best case scenario? i don’t see dungeon bosses getting deleted in 10 seconds or maybe i’m misreading

You can keep dragon rage for upwards of 30sec if you have enough haste and the right tallent.

That’s pretty normal dps for your ilvl.

Not dragonrage. Only if you’re lusting on pull. Because you’re always getting the max damage bonus from giantkiller at a high health %. If you’re not lusting on pull it’s better to hold it until a little bit into the fight.

The max time you can get out of it is actually 40 seconds (16 second base + 6 for each ES and FB at the beginning and end of the CD up to 24 seconds). But the window to do so is incredibly small and frustrating at present.

I know, i have tried hard myself but my average is 30. I may have done 40 but only on dummies were the only thing i have to pay attention to is cooldowns.

I’ve personally stopped trying for the full extension and have swapped Continuum for Eye of Infinity. Simmed at a 1-2% dps difference anyway, and i have a lot of crit right now so it smooths out the flow a bit. I’ll probably try Continuum again when i have a lot more haste.
