Devaluing Player Time

Voicing frustrations over the recent changes announced to SoD. Specifically the mount cost change. I spent significant time to quest and earn gold on three alts during phase 1. I leveled two characters to 40 within the first few weeks and completed all quests on my main before purchasing two mounts at high cost in order to allow me to farm ore and quest more efficiently. Lowering the cost with out compensating players who quested for gold is frustrating to me. I am unable to repeat the quests to gain additional gold and economically this change sets me behind others who will achieve this over a greater period of time. It also devalues the time I invested initially. What I would propose as a solution is you allow original mounts to sold back to the vendor for a full refund and new mounts to be bought at lower cost. Thank you for your consideration.

I walked home barefoot, uphill, both ways.

You should have to to!

No.

Send me some of your gold wah wah boy

I don’t think you understand what they are doing.

The gold amount you receive for quests once you reach level 40 is not affected. So all those quests you did while 40 would not have been for a lesser ammount.

However with that 100% xp boost in place people will be doing less quests overall to reach 40 if they are going the questing route, so they are boosting the amount of gold those quests are worth WHILE LEVELING so that the person will end up with what I assume is roughly the same amount of gold pre-change once they hit 40.

Appreciate the thoughtful response. My concern is not the improvements to leveling or the changes in gold during questing. I also agree there is opportunity to reach level 40 quicker which would return more gold total if I wanted to continue to level alts and quests. My frustration is the sunk costs on the mounts being halved with no compensation for those who paid the higher price. I also agree the reduced costs in the mounts in entirely beneficial for the community as a whole. I think there is a solution that benefits future mount purchases but doesn’t devalue the investment of those who were early.

I bought my mount the day before the change was announced. So I know what it feels like buying something right before it goes on sale.

Feels bad, sure could use half that gold back.
And while boosting quest gold during a 100% xp buff may average out the same.
These people are going to have a lot more gold only quests available at 40, on top of only needing half the cost for a mount.

Im not demanding/requiring compensation, jus sayin’ feels bad.

He didn’t say that did he?

There’s only a finite amount of quest you can do, once those are done you’re relying on much harder to sustain gold farms.

He’s not asking for the changes to be reverted, just a difference in the cost that can’t be recouped.

The main problem with changes like this is it rewards players for not playing the game.
