Details VS Warcraftlogs

If this is the wrong subforum for a topic like this then moderates please move it <3

This post is something of a request to the makers of the “Details” addon. Can you please contribute Scalecommander Devastation Evokers “Bombardments” damage to the Evoker? It’s profoundly night and day the difference in real damage contributed.

Last night in a 29 player raid I did 11th dps on the first boss according to Details, which is giving other players credit for Bombardments.

In contrast Warcraftlogs contributes that damage to the Scalecommander Devastation Evoker who produced the buff necessary to proc the damage from Bombardments. It’s a pretty huge portion of our dps both ST and AOE and it only exists because we are there to apply it, so it makes sense to give us credit for that event.

Thanks.

Wrong venue entirely. Open an issue on their github.

You don’t think that the people who made Details (or any addon really) never use the forums? I saw the creator of questie post in the general forums asking people for feedback about that addon, and I would say it’s nearly on par with how popular Details is.

So I disagree that this is the wrong venue. Maybe not the preferred venue sure. But certainly not just flat out wrong.

There’s always a chance they’ll see it here but if you create a ticket in their ticketing system they’ll definitely see it.

Possible that attribution only happens in the advanced combat log which I dont believe addons have access to. Which got me thinking that they would then have to manually attribute it, and if there’s multiple scalecommanders, how do you know whose it was without advanced combat log?

My best guess would just be that each application of the debuff that triggers bombardments to happen would internally be named after the player that generated it? but I have no idea how these things work so that’s just a simple guess.

This is the combat log that addons can read

17:01:31> Your [Bombardments] hit Tuskarr Training Dummy 303,711 Volcanic.

This is the advanced combat log that warcraft logs reads. Most of the bits at the end are to reattribute x amount of damage done to another player, which something like details would have no access to.

I have no idea what any of this stuff means but it sounds like you’re saying that details basically can’t.

Not by simply reading the combat log, no. It attributes the damage to the player who procced the bombardment since the combat log says that the proccing player did the damage, not the caster of the bombardment. If there’s only 1 scalecommander around, it’s a simple matter of taking all these bombardments and assigning them to the scalecommander evoker. But if there’s more than 1, you don’t know whose bombardment that random player is proccing and so don’t know who to accurately assign that damage to.

The advanced combat log knows this and creates a spell_damage_support combat event to reattribute damage from one player to another. To my knowledge, addons cannot read from the advanced combat log and so don’t have this extra data, though the only ones who would know for sure if something is doable or not are the details developers.
