General question here, what secondary stat would cause chaos both to hit the hardest? Would it be Mastery or crit?
I Ask because in random battlegrounds, I would rather just have extremely hard-hitting chaos, bolts and sacrifice a small amount of haste.
It’s not as important in a random battleground I believe as in a arena to have every single item with haste and no Mastery or crit.
It’s just fun to see those monstrously hard-hitting bolts.
Anyone have any good ideas, or maybe some builds that are focusing on extreme chaos Bolt damage?
Crit will increase the base damage of your chaos bolts, but mastery will increase the damage of all spells, though the mastery is a bit of a roulette if you get the full value or not. If you stack mastery, you’ll likely want to take the Chaos Incarnate and Power Overwhelming talents. CI guarantees 70% value from mastery minimum on chaos bolts, shadowburn, and rain of fire while PO gives a stacking 0.5% mastery buff for each shard spent for 10 seconds (but it’s a staggered buff, not static).
That said, I’d recommend mastery over crit because you’ll be using shadowburn far more than chaos bolts. We tend to get trained in PVP and you’ll likely always have a melee up in your face just itching to kick that long CB cast.

crit imo feels 10000x better but mastery outperforms. depends what you’re valuing ig

Also, different stats contribute different amounts percentage-wise.
I am not sure what it is for warlock, but on DH you get nearly twice the percentage stat gain from mastery vs other stats.
So mastery may win out because of that too.
