I"m sure its me in some way, shape or form… but at ilevel 600 I can’t seem to get into any +2s, people just not into having warlocks?

you need 636 ilvl and timed all dungeons in M 15+ to get an invite this season if you want an invite to a +2, else no invite.

611 ilvl over 2.2k score and it still takes so long to be invited.
What helped me was my healer friend queueing with me for few dungeons.
But if you are trying to push solo as Lock good luck.
Yeah I said it in guild chat the other day, on my 617, 2k io lock I have to beg to get into a dubious pug which will probably break after one wipe.
On my rshaman, 10ilvl lower, 300 io lower, I get 10 min standing ovation after just opening the group finder window. Constantly get into +7/+8s
The difference between not being and being FOtM.
Anyway keep at it, it’s painful, you can definately climb our way to 2k + but it’s slow and painful so be prepared.
