Destiny and Elder Scrolls Online show you can have progression while not making old gear obsolete

Turns out that they had a few more ideas, but it seems that they kept moving the resources elsewhere or scratching the ideas.

Staying on topic. I do find it funny that, since we’re talking about D2, that the dev comes out and says “WoW is not a first person shooter!” (12:17 timestamp)

I am not clear on how those games work, but wouldn’t that be a short-cut for people who farm older gear with one-shot kills?

Except those games suck

If those games are so much better, why are you here?

Apparently this is reverted after community uproar

Where do you think pet battles… and pet battle dungeon idea came from.

Above comment.

No thanks.

Feel free to go play Destiny or ESO if you don’t like the way WoW progresses.

One thing I like about ESO is being able to make a new character and portal right over to my houses around current content and run right in and start killing stuff.
No reason why character level should separate us from expansion landmasses.

That’s kind of a funny question:

It seems like the person who likes WoW more than D2 or ESO would be more reasonable to see on the WoW forums then someone who liked D2/ESO “So much better”. Not saying you shouldn’t be here. It’s just funny that you’re asking the wow fan why they’re on the wow forum.

See, I didn’t care for that. It just made me feel like I was missing out on stuff that I might have wanted to do, but I’m the wrong audience. I find ESO painfully boring.

The reset to level 60 makes me think they are considering this. It just doesn’t make sense to keep leveling. Expanding itemization would be much more interesting at this point

put pandas into ESO and Im literally out of here like the wind.
I play WoW for ONE sole reason…the races are much better.
Change that and Ill never look back.
ESO is ten thousands times better than WoW in every other conceivable way outside of their bland races that I really dont like at all.
And being an RPG, isnt race choices most of the point?

Your know it’s bad when Bethesda is telling Blizzard how to make a good game :weary:

It sucks how ESO doesn’t have any meaningful progression. I much prefer WoW’s multiple layers of redundant RNG that give my character gear and extra power that disappear with the start of the next expansion.

Also people who don’t like how WoW works should just go play a different game. I can’t wait to see what shoddily implemented system WoW will build up in the next xpac to make up for lackluster class design so that they can tear is down one expansion later and try something totally different. No change allowed here. WoW reigns supreme.

I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m glad you like it. I like talking to you because even when we disagree. That’s all it is. It’s cool. I don’t like ESO, but I know people who do. And I’m glad for them.

I just think WOW is sooooooo much better for what I want.

New world being only humans is why I have little interest

I can definitely see how WoW players wouldnt like it because it doesnt ‘feel’ like youre progressing over the scaling.
Personally I love that aspect of ESO and which WoW were more like that…but I also know that MOST players of these kinds of games arent like me in that aspect.
WoW seems to appeal to certain types of players, while ESO to others.

Id like to take the best parts of both and mix them up and make the perfect game, lol

Just for the record for people wondering about the videos linked above. I’m through BGs and halfway through the class video and no mention has ever been made, so far, about PVP being THE endgame for WoW at any time of its development or life.

At best, they alluded to trying to make it more meaningful in impact to the rest of the game and for the fans of pvp.

ESO has the Khajit and argonians…both put me to sleep.
Wow Pandas are my favorite…well were…now theyre in a close tie for #1 with Zandalari trolls, lol.

Races are really important in an RPG. They always have been since Red Box DnD. The ES series…Bethesda…really butchered their game world with their races. The Dwemer (dwarves) thing is like a long running joke or something.

My entire post is a joke meant to point out the flaws in the ‘eso doesn’t have any meaningful progression’ arguments.

But yeah, I can see how some people prefer different poisons.

I definitely agree races are important I feel like eso going all the same skeleton and no racial starting zone hurts the game

I left WOW for ESO like five years ago because I was getting annoyed with the constant grinding and the “planned obsolescence” of gear with each expansion. You grind for months to get the top tier gear, and then the first green drop in the new expansion is better than what you have. I still enjoy ESO, and I like the concept of champion levels (which are shared across all alts, so once you do the grind once, all your toons benefit). I think ESO does need to increase the level cap because as others have said after so many years people should be getting stronger, so to speak. But there is a lot of good stuff I would like WOW to implement, particularly for those of us who don’t PVP. In ESO, it doesn’t matter what faction you are. You can go into “enemy” cities as effectively a neutral character in the war and help with the world-devouring threats. Which makes PERFECT SENSE if you have sane leadership.

The nords don’t care if I am a high elf if I am there to stop Molag Bal from eating the planet! Yet here I am in WOW, with the Heart of Azeroth quite literally trying to stop the planet from self-destructing and just WALKING to close to a horde base gets me attacked. I would love for Blizzard to implement some sort of “rep” system where non-PVP players could actually quest in the other faction lands. Even if it means doing some long quest change to get a tabard that alerts guards that you are a nuetral ally. It has never made sense to me that you have all of these cross-faction groups (Ebon Hold, Argent Dawn, Centarion Circle, etc. etc. etc.) and yet none of that means anything. WHY did the Death Knights HAVE to pick a side? WHY did the Pandas have to pick a side. If my character doesn’t care about the war and is literally trying to prevent Armageddon, why can’t I be that hero?
