I was running an 11 Floodgate and my character got stuck in the environment after the first trash pull (the crates by the explosives). I tried everything to get out and get back to the team. I’m a monk healer, and normally when i get stuck in an environment like this, i can zen pilgramage out and back to key entrance to reset character stuck issues while pushing a key. However, the new deserter system now boots me from the instance after 60 seconds - the time of the zen pilgramage cool down. So instead of the team slow pulling trash while i resolve this bug - this scuffed the key - ruins the key for the whole team - and now triggers deserter status. The system should have checked if the team wanted to boot me - as i was trying to resolve an environment stuck character bug in real-time to time a key.
I do not think this is a fair or reasonable application of the deserter system - if a player is trying to resolve a technical issue in the game environment of the character being stuck so the key could be timed. The response to my bug report said “working as intended” and suggested i post here - which i am.
Although i appreciate the steps Blizzard is taking to address key deserters, which is very frustrating, there can be reasonable cases when a player needs to leave the instance - and the intent of the entire party is to continue to the key. My suggestion here is rather than an auto kick after 60 seconds - the system provides an auto-vote for kick after 60 seconds to navigate these cases.
