I’ve never liked the deserter debuff, since it applies to people who leave or are kicked from groups for no good reason. Today I was disconnected during a TW run, and got the 30 minute deserter debuff, even though two bosses were down.
This isn’t a good system. Consider other ways to penalize players who voluntarily leave groups, and please stop punishing players who involuntarily leave groups – even if they’re kicked, because we know that many kicks are done by trolls with brain worms.
Thats ironic. I accidentally alt F4 instead of the odd keybind of alt+4 that I apparently made at some point. Was able to come back in with no issue but that could have been due to it being the final boss.
If the group kicked you for the disconnect, then deserter happens. The system doesn’t know why anyone is kicked or leaves. There is no way to police groups 24/7 to determine this.
I’ve been pugging since this system’s inception and rarely have I seen kicks. Even rarer still were they initiated for stupid reasons. Half the time they get denied.
It’s the lesser of two evils. And it’s happened to me before when I’ve been disconnected. I just find something else to do.
It’s because the group didn’t kick you out for disconnecting.
Do you think I don’t already know that’s how the system works?
Do you think I didn’t find something else to do?
I want the system to change, not to be told by people how to cope with a bad system, when I already know how to cope with it.
I’m not asking for advice. I’m asking for change.

The system isn’t going to change. It’s why you were given an explanation.
If you cannot recognize information being given to you as just that, then perhaps ask next time instead of getting hostile for no reason.

I cast mirror image then invis, then i leave. 9 times out of 10 one of my clones gets the debuff. haha Sucker. What a miserable 40 second life.
