Rather than just show people’s wins and losses. Why don’t you put a stat for how many times they have gotten the “deserter” tag? I think it would be great for those people who like to leave a losing match.
No. Absolutely not, horrible idea.
They still wouldnt care nor would i because im not going to inspect them enough to care. Nor would blizz put enough effort to care to make that happen .
It would take almost nothing on Blizzard’s end. Also, it will put those people’s stats in context. Also, it would let people know what kind of person is complaining about BGs, lol
A player reputation bar would be cool. Gain rep/notoriety playing only against players in pvp…
Why are people so into this social-media-esque negative rating of others that you have some kind of disagreement with. I mean, yes, it is irritating when people leave a game right after the first minute, but maybe they didn’t leave for reasons you suspect they did. Maybe they had a kiddie to check on, or a phone call came in from someone important. This generation (or whatever it is) of WoW gamers kind of freaks me out - there is this eagerness to punish rather than look into ways to reward good play. It’s just so weird to me.
How about in the win/loss display, count desertions as losses instead of ignoring them, and ignore losses where you came in as a replacement.
Not a good idea at the moment since that stat could also say how many times a premade group removed them for not meeting their personal standards, even if they were doing nothing wrong.
Yeah sometimes it seems like the most important thing to most players is to find a scapegoat ASAP, partly so that it doesn’t end up being them. The fetishization of punishment is a little disturbing.
But I’ve always thought they should have a “BG’s deserted” stat, ever since they started tracking things with the achievement system. I’m pretty sure it tracks how many quests you’ve abandoned. I guess I’m not that knowlegeable about the current system, though. Specifically, if you leave a battleground early, does it currently count in the “games played” category or do you have to be there for the final score?
I gotta imagine that for the people who leave non-winning BG’s on principle, it could be more of a badge than an embarrassment, because for them each of those /afk’s represents a time when they were better than everyone else on their team and had the wisdom to abandon a sinking ship that was unable to carry them to victory.
I am pretty sure that games deserted are not counted at all, as a win or a loss.
I get the feeling we come from the same generation, however, I’m going to disagree with some of what you said. Firstly, I am all for rewarding good play and it is something Blizzard is lacking on and has for some time. On the flip-side to this, there is a plainly noticeable problem with people bailing out BGs now when things get tough, and its more often not for the reasons you mentioned above.
I have no problem with someone having to step out, but we all know that’s not the problem here. The problem is people rage-quitting and/or being spiteful to the team and/or system, and bailing time-and-time again. The problem with this behavior is it needs to be curbed. Positive reinforcement is good, and should be done, but I have no problem with negative reinforcement at the same time for these problematic people.
Leaving a BG doesn’t just give you a 15 minute deserter buff, it also screws over 9-14 other people (and wastes their time) since the system cannot fill the hole quickly enough, because you (them) left for your (their) own selfish reasons.
Or helps. I have seen comebacks when people leave. Either way, if they stick in the BG you think they are just going to change and play well?
wouldnt change anything, people that want to leave are still going to leave
i think most of us dont really care what others win, loss and leave stats are, i know i dont
Yupp exactly sometimes i leave if i dont feel good and i know i wont be back for a good 20 min or so . Also yes it can be at random when ones tummy gets upset . Life happens . Sometimes my power goes out /shrug . Sometimes my internet likes to go out /shrug . Sometimes girl issues come up at random eeek . Sometimes my pc freezes up .
Life happens people dont always leave just to leave .
I see the mass vote kick thing getting abused even more with this lol.
“Hey Bill the shaman is going to leave us. Everyone go ahead and kick him now so we can get a replacement earlier.”
Ita also not selfish to bail when no one on the team is listening and being comp silent all game . With 0 communication going on 0 call outs outs the worst kind of team. So no i dont feel bad when i leave those types of games. Idc if that wastes their time ,they wasted MY time with not playing or communicating just running around all game not doing anything meanwhile we get 5 capped aka an example of Ab for instance.
Yeah idc what you think of me im not going to stay and beat my head into the wall esp as a healer in a hot mess like that there wouldnt be anything to heal because everyone is so spread out whats the point of a heal tryying to solo a base when tbey 5 capped because team isnt talking or doing anything ?
It happens quite often i dont mind as much when i play dps i might stay but when healing oh hell no im O U T when that happens.
But it is selfish. It’s not about wasting your time or your teams time, you are wasting the time of the person who takes your spot. I get RL things happen, that’s a different story.
idc im not wasting my time to just heal myself at respawn so we can be 5 capped all game and make 0 progress. There is literally 0 point in wasting my time with that . I dont expect people to understand what its like from a healers perspective but im not dealing with that as a healer . Ita diff when the team tries and we get 5 capped and people actually try and talk and make callouts . Then yeah ill stay but if the team is dead mute silent all game forget it .
Oh please games like that affect all roles… no one dps is going to carry a match like that, but it’s also not going to last long. Idc what you do, but don’t act like it’s not selfish.
I have had comeback as well, there is no doubting that. However, it is much more frequent that the team is left in a worse spot because someone bailed.
Having the odd comeback doesn’t outweigh the more frequent disappointment.
