That animated movie that blatantly attempted to cash in on 80s kids’ love for a toy franchise by killing off the majority of the characters those kids grew up with, including the character many considered to be a father figure they loved very much, while also hiring one-off celebrities including one of the most acclaimed directors in cinematic history to voice a lot of the boring new Star Wars-knockoff characters while throwing many of the established voices of the 80s under the bus.

Close enough. King Of The Monsters.

Then they brought back Optimus near the end of the series. I think Weird Al did one of the songs (born to be stupid i believe?).

Twice; once as a zombie, and once in the G1 series’ Season 3 finale when he was brought back by a Quintesson to save the universe from the hate plague that was overtaking the Autobots and Decepticons alike. They even got to use Stan Bush’s “The Touch” for the final act of that episode, which was popularized by the movie.

That’s right! It was called “Dare to be Stupid,” and it was when Hot Rod and the rest of the new autobots were stranded on Junk and escaping from Wreck-Gar and the rest of the Junkions.

The irony? For Transformers Animated in the late 2000s, they actually got Weird Al to voice that continuity’s version of Wreck-Gar and there was even a DIRECT QUOTE where the character said “I am Wreck-Gar; I dare to be stupid!”

I had been thinking of going with “Feature length examination of why you shouldn’t come in on a day you aren’t scheduled to work”
