I really do not understand the moaning and whining from Horde and bi-factional players about Sylvanas having the Val’kyr raise Derek Proudmoore. ESPECIALLY, considering if you did the Darkshore quests like I did…we were doing the SAME THING!
If you did those quests do you not remember running around with the Val’kyr Brynja killing Night Elves and having Brynja RAISE THEM INTO UNDEAD? I do, I got a toy for doing it.
So Horde/Bifactional spare me the sanctimonious whining about Sylvanas and Derek Proudmoore. Also remember when these NPC’s start talking about how awful Sylvanas is for raising Derek they are talking about YOU too.
In addition, can Blizzard writers seriously get anymore Human focused in their story telling? Consider that when we raised the Night Elves in Darkshore the first things out of their mouth (I am paraphrasing) “WE HATE ELUNE! KILL NIGHT ELVES!” Derek Proudmoore gets raised and he is all like “What has happened to me? I am scared! I am lonely! Help me! Please!”
Seriously Blizzard? I don’t play Alliance, but I have to tell you Night Elves are getting spit on a lot in this expac.

Its the Human Potential.
Not only does Baine not care when similar things happen to Tauren or other Alliance races.
But a human race? He has to step up to Sylvanas then. Impress his BFF Anduin.

Doing a quest for zone unlock AS A PLAYER is nowhere near the same thing as a lore character doing a lore action.

I did it on one and only one Horde toon and he pretty much refused to take part in the battle (he was cheering for the other guys and dancing). Does that count?
Also, free will has nothing to do with this. She really is being remade into the Lich Queen.

I did the quest but I /spit on Nathanos every time he showed up and told him to go jump off a cliff. Does that count?

It wasn’t even the act of raising him, it was what Sylvanas was going to do with him. Raise him and let him make his own decisions? Sure, go for it!
Raise him and beat/torture/twist him into a weapon, removing his right to free will? Literally breaks the Forsaken creed.
But the Queen can do no wrong, she’s perfect and good and the only thing the Horde needs in this trying time. That’s the rhetoric of the Sylvanas fans, right?

I did the quest only once (on this character) to get the toy (and to see how cringy the ‘willing souls’ BS was going to be on live. But yeah…refused to kill Sira and really grumbled at how Nathanos SHOULD have died to literal god-empowered Tyrande but didn’t because he’s Sylvie’s ‘special friend’ >_>

I just want a Warchief that doesn’t sway with the winds. I’d take Garrosh if green Jesus hadn’t ruined that for us.
All I want is Nathanos to be a raid boss this expac so we can kill him. Over and over again.
He’s honestly a worse character than Sylvanas at this point.

I mean the last time they made him a raid boss he just faked his death and resurfaced as a hunter trainer 3 expansions later and called you stupid. I say go for it!
Sylvanas has been denying free will. It’s obvious.
There’s a datamined dialogue where Lilian Voss even says she knows it’s what Sylvanas has been doing. She gave Derek his free will at first because she wants him to act normal once he returns to his family, but then kill them in their sleep due to the brainwashing.
