COMMENTARY: The hold to use ability this class is going to be focused on I feel like would feel very immersive for tanking… so it’s just a real shame
EXAMPLE: imagine a boss doing a crush attack and you hold the ability that performs like a block but if you hold it to the max (you cast it to early) you don’t reduce as much damage as a perfect block.
MOCKERY: These are supposed to be Neltharion prefect soldiers but I’d honestly I’d argue that Illidan demon hunters or Arthas Death Knights would absolutely destroy the Dracthyr Invokers…

Well they were made over 10,000 years ago. War has caused magic to be more powerful. So likely deathknights and demon hunters are more powerful. Deathwing abandoned them for a reason. His chromatic are better warriors.
I wish they also had a tanking spec but blizz doesn’t want them to be in melee.

Huh weird, if only there were other races capable of tanking to circumvent this roadbump on our way to an expansion where it doesnt makse sense lorewise for dragons to be tanking.

Also, I think they were trying to avoid ticking DH’s off plus having to many wings and effects in the way visually during a dungeon.

Yeah, a tank spec would be awesome.
I still think they ought to just have more classes available. The dragon riding system that they’re a part of, and just having a racial dragonbreath or something would be more than enough to make them “feel” like a dragon.
The rest of the tripe that the evoker does being class specific is fine–i.e. they focus on the draconic abilities… but they should be able to hit things with a stick. Everyone can hit things with a stick, which is why everyone has always been able to be warriors.
These guys not having a tank is super lame as it completely excludes an entire section of the playerbase from playing the new race. You like dps? Great! You like healing? Great! You can play the new race. You like tanking? You want to play the race? Nah… that’s out of bounds.

Powerful when they were made and they are still dragons. Just think of them like trolls vs night elves 10,000 years ago. Trolls ruled the world yet their magic was nothing compared to the elves.
Once they get into the real world and the aspect get their power back. Then they will likely evolve like all the other mortal races.
If I had to guess, the lore-reason is going to be that Dracthyr had free will and couldn’t be controlled by him, or something of the sort, so they were put into stasis.

COMMENTARY: I guess that makes sense… they would be seen as powerful creatures back then but now death knights or demon hunters would absolutely dog walk them because they have so much anti magic tools to their disposal.
Hopefully their starting zone makes them appear a lot more bad af like they are very resilient to physical blows or have strong healing factors

I mean lore wise the red dragonflight didnt do damage either, they were also healers meant to protect life, sure their fire COULD destroy things, but that was not their purpose.
Now here we are, burning stuff to the ground in the name of the red dragonflight lol.

Fair assessment based on the zero information we have about the class outside a couple of showcased abilities that may not even make it live.
The ultimate tank fantasy 
Sometimes the forest has to burn down to begin again anew.
There’s a reason why Red Dragons breath fire in the first place, and not arcane energy, sand, poison, etc. The cycle of life has to be preserved sometimes through destruction.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: you’re correct we don’t know much but it’s hard to see how these lizard magi will be more powerful than Illidan demon hunters that would fighting the Legion in their strongholds and destroy them or death knights who don’t need to eat, sleep, feel pain and are stacked with anti magic saronite armor while also having powerful runes to cast magic themselves.
The Dracthyr are naked lizards that apparently have no physical attributes…
