Depleted Scythe of Chaos Questline buggy AF?

Just wanted to make a post real quick asking if the dev team can take a look at the Xirath portion of the Depleted Scythe of Chaos questline please, it seems bugged/broken.

I got the item last night in BWL, started the quest this morning, and when I got to the imp and opened his dialogue box, it disappeared almost immediately, and I couldn’t read what he said. Also now he won’t talk to me, the dialogue option is gone from him…

In addition, there’s no update to the quest other than checking off that I’ve talked to Xirath - no additional info on what to do. I’ve been given some “Suspicious Supplies” and I’m supposed to put them somewhere, but I don’t know where, and there’s no info online about it either, probably because it’s a new thing unique to SoD.

In addition, while standing near the imp wondering what the hell I’m supposed to do now, I am getting hit with a mysterious blast wave and occasionally getting dazed, but there’s no enemies around…

I eventually put my demon on defensive and he proceeded to fight an invisible enemy for a while, eventually killing it. Is this related to the quest? I tried putting down supplies while my demon fought the invisible enemy but nothing happened.

Now I am left with no choice but to abandon the quest, travel all the way back to the Barrens and pick it up again, travel all the way back to EPL, talk to this imp again, and HOPEFULLY I can screenshot his dialogue box before it disappears leaving me clueless again…

Could you guys maybe hotfix this soon? I’d love to engage with the content you added but I literally cannot…

EDIT: Ok for anyone else that had this problem, I went back and screenshotted his dialogue, he wants you to use the supplies on nearby skull piles :+1:

Did you use detect invisibility on yourself?

After figuring this out tho, I don’t think that random blastwave stuff was even related to the quest? :thinking:

Be careful you complete all parts of the quest yourself. If you just drain soul the mob without doing the other part you’ll lock yourself.

yes after having done the quest i have some pointers.

1 ) when you talk to the imp he gives you supplies that you use on the skull piles in that town and kill the imps.

  1. when you get done with that , talk to the imp again and he will either disappear or jus aggro. dont worry if he disappears when he comes back you can fight him.

drain him and get the soul of mischeif. kill him.

use the soul by clicking it and it will upgrade the depleted staff a bit.

  1. dont go back to barrens . the guy is at lights hope chapel. go talk to him and start the next part.

  2. on some of these you can drain the mob before summoning or whatever but it wont allow you to complete the quest or even summon the mob if you do that. if you do that drop the quest are repick it up and do it the right way.

  3. make a spellstone and equip it and be ready to use shadow ward and vw sac. pop those and click the altar in corrins crossing big building.

drain the vw that pops up and kill it then use the soul and it will again upgrade the depeleted staff.

go turn in to doran at lhc again and get the next quest.

  1. go to the ziggeraut at 32/30 ish and go in. there will be a big elite unless someone has killed it recently. kill it and let pet tank for this cause he hits hard.

after killing the elite (mind you its not part of the quest to kill the elite abom so dont worry if its not there) kill the skeletal mage and loot the scroll.

use the scroll on the fel rift inside and a incubus will pop out . drain it and get the soul and then kill it.

use the soul and upgrade your staff again and go turn in to doran.

  1. get next quest and then go to blackwood lake in the center of epl and go to the town (not actually a “town” but just a bunch of burned out shells of buildings) RIGHT of it and kill the shadow mages. they will drop a shadow carving that you loot .

after you loot the carving attack one on the shadow mages and wait a bit for a felhound to spawn.

drain the hound and then kill it and kill the shadow mage too.

use the soul from the felhound to upgrade the staff again.

go turn into doran again and pick up the next quest.

  1. almost done! go to dfc in ashenvale but doran is off to the east a bit. talk to him before going in. you also dont need the dfc key thing i think it willl just be the portal there already (if im wrong just make sure to have it in the bags just in case) . pick up the quest and then go in.

go immediately to the left when you zone in and there will be an altar there.

pop it and kill the mob (hes very ez) .

use the item he drops to upgrade the staff.

go back out and talk to doran 1 more time to complete.

you now have the staff! grats!

I can’t get the shadow carving to drop from the shadow mages. I’ve spent an hour farming them and nothing. Anyone else have this issue?

maybe you already looted it?

have they been spawning felhounds?

or did you drain a hound before you got the shadow?

None of these have occurred. I even abandoned the quest and picked it up again and still nothing. I feel like I’m wasting my time at this point.

I’ve figured it out. The shadowmages that you have to kill are to the RIGHT of the lake, not the left.

If you do any part of this quest line out of order you seem to need to abandon that step and restart it. If you drain someone else’s felhunter before getting your own drop it will probably bug
