Dense hide? Where is it?

I’ve farmed the spots shown here:

and while I did manage to get the few I needed two weeks ago in about an hour, now I’ve gotten only one after farming for three hours. I haven’t seen any other places online to farm, so have I just been unlucky? Did the drop rate get nerfed?

I mean, you need dense hide for these LW weekly quests, and yet, here we are, spending hours to get just one. This is not fun gameplay.

I’ve had this same issue. Typically in a two hour span in my normal farming route I get around 25-30 dense hides. Today I maxed out my gathering spec and leather animal gathering to the max, but in that same two hour span I only got 3. I suspect a stealth nerf drop rate because there is no way with the amount of perception I have that I should be getting this few.

As a follow up here, I’ve just started killing two or three of the “rares” daily. There’s Skarra in the Plains (drops three dense hide once a day), Henlare in Thal (drops three dense hide once daily) and the Ancient Hornswog in the Waking Shores (drops either three dense hide or three lustrous scaled hide once a day). It’s slow, but at least it’s something if you don’t need a huge quantity. Other rares like Hammet do as well, though some of them aren’t up all the time like Skaara, Henlare, Ancient Hornswog, etc.

I suspect that there was a nerf so that only rares/elites drop dense hide now. I used to get it fairly regularly off normal mobs (maybe 5% or so) but the last few weeks I have gottern ZERO off thousands of normal mobs while farming leather. No way this is just RNG.

I haven’t just farmed for a while now, so can’t comment on the regularity of drops, but even before Dense Hide seemed to drop super rare, with no mob giving a seemingly increased chance (which I always thought was dumb and the hippos and mammoths seemed like the type of mob that should have given an increased chance for those drops).

I did want to add that the Bear rare in Brackenhide, The dragon rare (north most) in the Primalist Future zone, and Deaths Shadow (name? Sebellion key spawn in the Citadel) also give good skinning drops once per day.

I have noticed a good amount of dense hide from the skinnable rares on the every 30 min (14 hour cycle) rare circuit. i killed a few of those rares on my skinner today and always got a few dense hides from each kill.
