yeah the upsides outweigh the negatives on the re-work. but for me i still disagree on the ranged holy paladin being supported. you say it is, but i hard disagree. we could have got denounce and a way to apply consecrate (or do any damage) from ranged. and you know even though i wanted both, i think i mostly could have lived with just one. well denounce ended up pvp only (i dont do pvp), and consecrate was given just a 50% chance from judgment - very disappointing, but ultimately i thought ok i can live with this. just barely.
now that is nerfed to 30% chance on that talent. to me, that one change is actually too much. regardless of the fact of the spec being more fun to play now, than it has been in years, which i agree is true, its still evidence for me of how the dev team is treating the spec, teh mental space they have for holy paladin, its far too different from mine, so i realize continuing to try and play it will only make me unhappy, and the best thing is to cut loose early.
i dont want to play the game they want me to play. i have barely wanted to play it, but most of the time, for most specs, especially not the way they seem to want those specs to be played. the old-style talent trees returning was huge for me honestly, as it allowed me so much finer / granular control over every talent build. this ability to personalize my spec breathed a lot of life back into the game for me.
but there is still some Wow themes that are impossible to escape. and it might surprise people on a WoW forum to hear that someone playing WoW does not want to embrace the WoW-ness of the game. but i am here for reasons you couldn’t guess, i’m actually not a fan of the WoW class themings in virtually every case, despite that, i look past it, and just enjoy the gameplay of it, this is still the best class design in any mmo i’ve played, so that’s it.
classes are distinct, most have a good feel to play, and the new (old) talent trees allow much needed personalization of each spec so everyone can feel some freedom of expression. but the world itself is extremely lackluster, and by and large if i never saw another major lore figure in a cinematic ever again, it would make no difference to me
