He escaped the Shadowlands, but now he has no power, no realm, no castle and no people.
All he has is a handful of Dreadlords.
I wonder what he will do in the future.
I imagine he will use his Dreadlords as a connection and join Sargeras. Old Sargey isn’t particularly picky about who he works with (most of the Legion are his former enemies) so I can’t imagine he would be against it.
And it’s not like Denathrius has much of a problem working for a stronger, more muscular God, since he used to work for the Jailer.
So that’s what I predict. Denathrius joining Sargeras.

I am 100% expecting Illidan to join up with Sargeras. Remember, Illidan remained behind with the titans at the end of Legion.
Illidan is a pragmatist at the end of the day. If he needs to join with Sargeras to defeat the void lord Demensius (final boss of the next 2 expacs), then he will definitely do it.

The thing is, Sargeras was driven mad and formed the Legion with the Manari and Dreadlords to keep the universe from being claimed by the Void, ironically using the Legion to send many souls in soul engines to the same fate the Void would have sent them to of an eternal agonizing purgatory.
I don’t think barring some very good convincing that Sargeras would repeat his mistake if he really thought about it long enough.
Denathrius could still reform the Legion though, as most lesser Demons were controlled to commit violence and the larger ones like Pitlords revel in it naturally, the only difference is Denathrius would take the place of Sargeras and the Dreadlords that aren’t dead would be leading without the Manari.

He was trapped in a blade with his crazy girlfriend. Perhaps he will just need some time on a beach somewhere to unwind.

My theory was he gets broken out of the sword, gets mad at us for ruining his plans and comes at us with a new Burning Legion.
Not sure that fits into the Worldsoul Saga. But maybe Xal helps get him out of the sword in exchange for attacking us.

Another problem is, that once Sire Denathrius and the Legion are taken care of permanently, and presuming we kill Dimensius which isn’t too big a stretch given Blizzard’s habit of offing cosmic threats in single patches… unless Sargeras or Azeroth kills Dimensius then we’re basically in a conundrum… what’s even a threat anymore for a sensible story? Even IF they kill Dimensius, then what? How do you account for an all-power Titan or World soul prime when the writers struggled to make BFA work with Velen, the Lightforged, and a space to land orbital laser right there at the Alliance’s disposal and somehow making catapults fire ridiculous distances to set a tree on fire? Or having to nerf Malfurion (again) so an axe can take him out?
Memes aside, they don’t have much merit as plot writers and developers.

My opinion: let Azeroth be born at the end of Worldsoul Saga and have the planet break into pieces, like Outland.
We get all new zones, more down to earth type threats like we had in Vanilla as we struggle to rebuild and we start anew on these chunks left behind.
We can always go back to the whole planet whenever we feel like it and the chunks of planet can be huge anyway.

Azoroth is going to keep her soul in a small avatar and use her body to empower her hero’s for the next great threat.
This empowers a cheaper animation budget and thus is far more likely.

Shadowlands took care of that already.
There’s a mysterious 7th Cosmic Force that is mutually exclusive with the other 6.
The reason why the 6 forces fight so much is that they all want to take over all others to “unite the cosmos” and fight against the 7th Force, because a divided cosmos won’t survive.
Once we’ve beaten all the Cosmic enemies, we unite the cosmos and fight the 7th Force.

Denathrius is still stuck inside Remornia and a light seal placed on it. The only Nathrezim who could break that would be Lothraxion, the light-Nathrezim. But I imagine once Sargeras finds out the Nathrezim manipulated him for Sire D and the Jailer, he and Illidan will join forces to help take out Sire D, who is on par with the level of Elune’s sister.
I imagine the other Nathrezim force Lothraxion to break the seal after being captured once Yrel and Exarch Hellscream bring their Light army to battle Xal’s and Dimensius’s forces of void.

If I had to speculate, it’s possible that Xal ropes him and his Nazrethim into her plots; he’s been mortally wounded and it’s only the fact that Remornia absorbed him that kept him from non-existance. Knaifu would be intimately aware of how miserable such an existance is and also know how to go about restoring him as long as he’s willing to do some things for her.
Alternately: Denathrius winds up using the dreadlords to try and carve out a cult of some sort for himself on Azeroth he can either utilize to gather servants or try and go full chaos goblin mode and try to screw us over out of pure spite.

I actually joked back in Shadowlands when we got to Zereth mortis and learned that there was an even more ancient race we don’t know from donkeyportal that said race was actually a bunch of all powerful cosmic trailerpark trash and that Elune was actually their smell hound that the Kaldorei had espoused way more power to then actually was deserved.

Time for The Alliance to get hit with the villain bat.
Twice.

I don’t think folks understand what this means, them attacking the Horde wouldn’t be villainy, it’d just be retribution.
“Villain batting” would require them to attack someone completely innocent, like how the Orcs invaded Azeroth to kill everyone and take over or how Trolls tried to eat and war with everyone else on Azeroth for centuries due to their active rituals of cannibalism and sacrifice. (Even the Zandalari weren’t 100% guilt free of this, despite not ever normalizing cannibalism, they have been global enemy #2 to both Alliance AND Horde since MoP and Throne of Thunder, it’s rather amusing Sylvanas even recruited them)
So… what would this look like? Turalyon decides to genocide Tuskarr one morning?
“Ah yes, I’ve always found Tuskarr deplorable… I think I’ll slaughter a few this year!”-villain-batted Turalyon.
You can make a villain sympathetic, you can even make the audience feel sorry for them, but it’s not supposed to make them NOT villains or in the wrong.

Villain batting means they expose that the Alliance was rotten to the core, all along.
Make Alliance players embarrassed to be Alliance. Make them HATE logging into the game, because their faction can’t do anything right. Treat the Alliance and its players like Blizzard has twice treated the Horde.
It would be GLORIOUS.
