Why can we not use Demonic Gateway in Orgrimmar or Stormwind city? Like we can’t even deploy it.
It’s has some strange code in it that’s the devs decided to just let it be was my conclusion. In legion I thought it was a bug, sent a report never got anything back. Though that’s been like this much longer dating back to BC.
None of the devs ever addressed it. I think in legion was when they updated gate to be used vertically like from the lower level to the top but someone did something to it again when it has all sort of issues again using it in certain spots.
I’m sure if it’s due raid function they can place conditionals on it but for some reason they don’t bother.
It isn’t a bug, it was a deliberate change in MoP because back then people were using spells to grief.
An example (one I actually got a week ban for), you could use Demonic Gateway to clip underneath the cities inside Vale of Eternal Blossoms, and from that vantage point you could attack NPC and Players but they wouldn’t be able to attack you back.
ah. and their response instead of making the walls solid so it couldnt’ be done was to break an iconic warlock spell. That was nice of them.

I’m not opposed to it being disabled in cities. Having a buncha random gateways spread throughout various cities would be quite obnoxious to behold.
