Excuse my confusion on the topic but I’m relatively new to Warlock
I just have a bit of confusion surrounding Demonic Calling, why doesn’t it reset the CD on Dreadstalkers? It genuinely does not feel good to me when I get a proc only to see that I have ~10 secs left on my Dreadstalkers to go, feels sort of wasteful and pointless
I mean I get at 20% proc rate it might be a touch strong? But surely you could drop the proc rate? Seems to me like having it proc less but guarantee that Dreadstalkers is up when it does proc would be a more enjoyable experience for the player than having to watch procs waste away anyway?
I dunno just trying to wrap my head around the design decision and thought maybe more seasoned Warlocks might have some insight

The buff lasts like 20 seconds iirc, so it should never fall off before dreadstalkers come off CD. Only real issue would be overwriting procs I guess.
That wasn’t really what I’m struggling to understand, in fact almost the opposite I guess
Let’s say I get a proc, use it, then 5-10 seconds later get another proc (definitely happens). Sure the proc is going to last, but now I’m just forced to sit on it which feels pointless. It’s like “hey here’s this proc for you to use! Isn’t that neat? Oh…but you can’t use it now”
I dunno, maybe I’m just accustomed to procs adding variability to otherwise stagnant rotations? And it feels like Demonic Calling not resetting the CD on Dreadstalkers stymies that?
Not sure exactly, it just feels a bit unsatisfying

I get that, but for Demo I feel like that particular dopamine hit can be provided by Demonic Core and Soul Conduit procs. I almost prefer that Calling doesn’t affect the CD because Demo is already pretty fast-paced with Explosive Potential. If the CD on dogs was reset with a proc, you’d end up with moments where you physically couldn’t spend all the shards/Demonic Cores you’d generate when the dogs expire.
On the other hand, who knows. Maybe that would be a lot of fun. There is a fine line to balance between warlock specs feeling shard starved and shard capped, though, and neither side feels good.
Here’s my opinion.
They refused to make Dreadstalkers instant cast, because they ran out of ideas for Demo PvP talent, and they actually think ‘instant cast Dreadstalker’ is a great idea for ‘talent’.
Of course, they conveniently ignore the fact that their actions resulted Demonology is overkilled with casting timers - even the cooldown has a cast time!
The anguish feeling of watching your Dreadstalker button ‘lights up’ but you are unable to push it because ‘design’? Priceless.
Typically you’re only hard casting dreadstalkers in beginning of of encounter for core procs later, or in very situational encounters you’d do it as a filler. But really you’re just dishing out imps til you get the DC proc.
But like above poster said, it lasts 20 seconds, so technically you should have you should have them up before the proc window closes
It’s already the strongest talent in that row. If it reset the CD it would be absolutely busted. It’s intended more as something to give you a benefit when you can next cast the spell, rather than being a proc that you should actively be trying to fish for as part of your core gameplay - that’s what demonic core is for, as others have said.
