Demon Slayer is painfully average

I bought the first season after hearing so many good things about the series and considering its literally the top selling manga/movie now in Japan and I have to say I feel like I jumped world lines and I’m in a crazy alternate dimension.

The characters are generic cliche and annoying af, the story is generic and inconsistent and frankly makes no sense. The animation is Really good I’ll give it that, but a polished turd is still a turd. The comedy almost always falls flat and is always poorly placed. I’ve heard people defend it by saying it may not be ground breaking but it does shounen perfectly to which I say…what? HxH is a shounen perfected it’s not ground breaking but it does everything perfect. I’d sooner pop in Black clover or Fairy Tail than this show again

I feel like the whole world is crazy and at some point Ashton is gonna come out and say I’ve just got punked, I honestly don’t get it.

How is it inconsistent or make no sense?

Why can’t nezuko talk yet every other demon can? Why do they even have to change her back when she seems perfectly in control? Why would they hypnotize her but not other demons? She seems perfectly unphased by blood until ploy demands otherwise for “suspense”. How does a whole demon slaying Corp exist yet people in the world don’t believe or know of demons, Yet demon attacks seem very common place. The breathing techniques are hardly touched on how they actually work and power ups will just happen “cause”. The story will show these demons slaughter people civilian or otherwise then try to make us cry for them cause a cheesy sad back story flash back.

The only consistency in the series is the bland flat characters acting according to thier one tone cliche personality

She basically returned to a baby like mentality, plus she has that thing on her mouth

Cause she would be left alone when her brother dies from old age or something, basically he wants her to return to normal so she can live a normal life, also so she isnt in danger of the sun too.

Cause she was mostly feral and pretty much a baby mentally, other demons wont fall for the same trick.

Likely cause she mostly remains focused on protecting her brother or other people, unlike that time where her whole attention was on the blood, she also got provoked by the guy with scars.

Kinda hard on this one, my guess is due to surviving demon attacks is low already, and most people likely see them has myths, also keeping them in the dark is likely to evade panic from spreading out.

These are expanded upon later in the series.

Its to humanize them, Demons are ultimately sad identities that were largely turned into demons against their will or has last resort to survive, thats the whole point, they were humans before.

But why is she a baby now? Besides being “special” there is no reason for it, well that and excuse to have an overly cute female character.

I also think the bigger problem is that the show has me so uninterested I’m thinking of all this random crap. Nothing about the show is great besides the animation. I actually detest the min cast worse than any other shounen squad. Basically took the worst aspects of each trope and dropped it into blondie andn boar dude, tanjiro is blank slate do good for good sake cause I’m so good character and nezuko is really a non character er she’s there to say “awwww” at. Then they drop those high ranking demon slayers, no clue what they were called so I’ll say captains since it’s basically just bleach anyway. And each one had their one personally quirk and that was it. That’s the character. Even if there is more to them, Why introduce so many at once just to give us the most shallow peak at them, I’m confident in assume though there isn’t much more to them considering even the main cast are as deep as a kiddie pool.

She is one of a kind, besides every single demon is different, that much is obvious.

She also lost a huge portion of her memories besides her attachment to her family.

We’ve already seen how screwed the demons become after being transformed.

Its mere popularity and success says otherwise.

Then you didnt saw them properly.

For example Zenitsu has an obvious inferiority complex, which was in part for being inferior to his fellow student which was stronger than him when they were training, which is seen in flashbacks, yet his master never gave up on him, which is why he tries to live up to the expectation others put on him.

Even Tanjiro has showed a darker side to his usual gentle portrayal, an example being when the corps were killed by the spider girl, even Inosuke got scared of his rage at the time.

Maybe because they JUST got introduced? they will get expanded upon on the movie and the second seasons whenever it comes out.

One of them which is the Insect one, was already expanded upon, that despite her appearing cheerful and gentle, she is in fact filled with rage and hatred towards demons, even being sadistic towards them, Tanjiro even realizes it just by talking to her, and her backstory explains why she acts like that.

Mate, honestly, youre just ignoring stuff about the characters to make an argument.

I never seen DS, but would love to see it when I do have a change down the road. Right now I am focusing on Ultraman, one pieces and Godzilla: SP.

Its definitely worth it
