I was looking at the DHs again and thought of my old one I had. She was done up with swords and tatts, but little to no demonic aspects. And it made me wonder how y’all RP them. Do you go the full DH route? Or do you do something different with the character like a blind samurai, or some type of fel mage?
I RP this fellow bi-factionally as an old elf who sold his soul/physical body real estate to save his family from death and ended up losing them anyway. He’s in thrall to the demon now and is being used to engage in and spread depravity, you know; edgelord stuff.

For a couple of months I roleplayed this character as a Night Elf DH. Overall, I went into the DH route. They were a member of the Illidari and had a companionship with a Warden NPC/supporting character. I went with the Illidan-Maieve dynamic in a very broad, general sense. Because I began RPing them in late BFA, much of their backgrounds were the actual Demon Hunting related things, like serving on the Broken Isles for their respective factions. What RP I actually managed to do with them wasn’t really related to Demon Hunting or Warden marshalling. In a friends campaign we helped stop a void satyr, and then months later we did a few weeks of a Shadowlands journey. Whenever I do decide to return to DH RP, I’ll continue where I left my DH and Warden characters off, in a hiatus after the harrowing trip inside the Shadowlands.

I have Demon Hunters on both factions and have RP’d both of them extensively as full Demon Hunters/Illidari. Each has a vastly different origin story and reasons for joining Illidan. What they have in common is a commitment to their cause, a deep sense of duty, and an obligation to the ‘untainted’ of Azeroth.
While neither was RP’d in Demon Hunter-specific guilds, they found homes with groups that appreciated their particular talents while not judging them- in short- places they were appreciated by the majority. Of course, I chose non-DH guilds because I didn’t want edge-lord overdose. Just a personal preference on RP type.
I actually don’t. I RP as one of the Dark Wardens that Sylvanas rose from the dead. NE DH have some similar abilities as the Wardens do, and it just seemed like the best fit to RP the class I truly wanted to play. My character doesn’t look very demonic.

I am one who tends to dislike roleplaying hero classes as anything other than themselves; that should likely say enough on how I regard my DHs. I went full hog on the demonic features for both DH’s I have, mainly just for the aesthetics.
Originally, I wanted to be part of a guild that emulated the Illidari faction as well, but most if not all DH guilds proved to have life spans shorter than flies so the character stagnated until I decided to write her as taking up work as a detective after the Legion’s defeat. The job is meant to be at once a source of reliable work and a means to gain leads on any demonic presence that may persist on Azeroth. The character is also still loyal to the Illidari.
My hopes of a guild or group emulating the faction aren’t entirely dead either, even if the ideal time for such activity has long passed; though admittedly, like my rp ambitions in general, they are on life support.
