Demon Hunters in the Dust

Howdy! I want to post this in the hopes of some changes for DH. I have been a DH main since they released in legion and have enjoyed the class for the most part since then. Also, let me preface by saying I primarily play PVP, however, I do raid a little bit.

Demon hunters were great for movement with vengeful retreat, fel rush and the ability to double jump, meta jump. Now it seems a lot of other classes have as much movement if not more.

One thing that really bugged me recently is that evokers had the ability to double jump due to being dracthyr. Now with the upcoming dracthyr update, all these other classes are going to be able to double jump/glide as well. So there goes something special that DH had.

Another thing is the racials dracthyr have… now I’m going to have to worry about a hunter (and the other new dracthyr classes) using a knockback and a knock up on top of their wide range of utility.

Evokers also received a third talent spec very soon after release. DH are still stuck with two. This would be fine if we even received updates and changes for havoc. I have played both hero talents and the warglaive one just feels so lame and lack of effort in design. The other one just amplifies your abilities in metamorphosis, not super fun either.

We are stuck with basically the same rotation that is easily messed up in pvp if you get stunned or cc’d when you essence break. And yes I know you have to watch for stuns and all this and all that. But I feel like other classes are just pumping damage and have multiple kill opportunities.

So far this expansion I have leveled and played quite a bit of pvp on DH, War, Mage, Monk, Pally, and DK. Granted a few of these classes are super OP right now, however, they all are fun to play except DH.

I just feel like there is a lack of effort and design for DH compared to most other classes. The things that make us unique are slowly being taken away now.

TLDR: DH is boring and being stripped of unique qualities. Still lacks 3rd talent tree. Our kill window lacks in pvp. It just isn’t fun anymore.

This is all complaining with no suggestions on what should change.

It is never going to happen. People always complain about DH, complain about their spec not being good or fun, but then magically think that if Blizzard creates a 3rd spec that that will somehow solve all issues. They need to just focus on making the 2 we have enjoyable to play.

This is just anecdotal on your part. Warriors need a target to charge. Maybe Monks can keep up with 3 rolls. But DH is still easily top 3-4 classes out of the 13 that can move quite easily. Fel Rush requires no target, same with Meta leap and Vengeful Retreat. Then you have Felblade and The Hunt on top of that. I’d say mobility is the least of DH concerns. Warrior, Feral, Monks, were all mobile before DH was even added to the game.

Dracthyr have 3 minute cooldowns on their CC racials now. I doubt it will be a serious problem. Lord knows some ranged classes could use some more peels for all the hyper mobile sticky melee dps in the game anyway.

Again, fixing the 2 talent trees/specs that exist is what they need to do.

Ok

  • all diminishing returns now grants immunity after the 1st cc rather than 50% after the 1st one, 25% after the second, and immune after the 3rd.

  • Glimpse PvP talent baseline

  • Second Vengeful Retreat charge

  • Vengeful retreat now removes roots

  • Vengeful retreat grant a charge of Fel Rush

  • Reaver’s Glaive is now a separate ability, 2 charges, 30sec cooldown, reduced by 6 sec per soul gathered

  • Reaver’s Glaive works with Furious Throws

  • Eye Beam grant a Reaver’s Glaive charge

  • Wounded Quarry is now a buff on DH rather than linked to a debuff on target

  • Desperate instinct now allow Blur to be usable while under a cc

  • Reverse Magic doesn’t trigger backlash effects

  • Cleansed by Flames doest trigger backlash effects

  • Throw Glaive deals Chaos damage

  • Soul Scar now works with Glaive Tempest

  • Delete Chaos Nova - New spell : Sigil of chaos, after 2sec, stun all enemies inside the area for 4sec

  • Delete Imprison - New spell : Sigil of Doom, after 2sec, imprison all enemies inside the area for 4sec

  • Fix all bugs (more than 10 on list)

  • Immolation Aura has a 2nd charge - remove that effect from A Fire Inside

  • Inertia duration lasts 8 secs

  • Essence Break duration lasts 8 secs

Would just be the first steps to make DH enjoyable.
Now need to find something to fix the stacking-buff gameplay they gave us and the problem with Cycle of hatred/Shattered Destiny/Aldrachi when you need 100% uptime to be efficient.

Yup. At least you gave suggestions. The original post I replied to was just complaining. Any dev who read it would have ignored it because there was no actual feedback. I’m sure Blizzard will get around to DH. Rogue has some PTR notes for changes coming in 11.0.5 so there’s hope for DH by 11.0.7 or 11.1 anyway.

No changes since Beta, and none have been announced yet. The Dh-dev remains an empty seat.

My only hope is that the lack of updates means they are working on a deep rework, making any changes to the current system unnecessary—but I might just be dreaming.

There isn’t a dev for all classes. In recent past, Blizzard has had as many as 2 devs working on all classes. Seems like they quietly shuffled Realz off to something else, maybe back to Hearthstone. DH had the DF rework so I am not surprised they’re near to bottom of the priority list for Blizz. They’ll get to them eventually but I am not holding my breath for anything before 11.1 at the soonest.

I can’t speak for Vengeance, but Havoc desperately needs a talent-tree rework. The general DH tree also needs to be spruced up too.
