Demon Hunters and Faction Choice

Speaking for myself in regards to Demon Hunters/Illidari, since the class is extremely race-restricted, and there’s no guarantee that it will be expanded upon like other classes due to its strict lore requirements (even though there are a few candidates that would fit well and be lore-friendly), I propose allowing us to choose which faction our Demon Hunter wishes to join.

Considering the Demon Hunters are firstly members of the Illidari and are merely representatives of their faction to the Alliance/Horde, why should they have to choose the faction their race is a part of if they’re their own thing now? (This could also apply to Death Knights as being members of the Ebon Blade.) It would give use more choices per faction without sacrificing established lore to do so.

Just wanted to get this out of my head, lol. Thanks for reading! Feel free to discuss or ignore/cast out into the void.

It’s weird that Void Elves can’t be Demon Hunters. You’d expect some Demon Hunters would want to use the Void to fight the Void the way VE do but it’s probably more “one faction can’t have 2 if the other is limited to 1”.

They already got the void speaking in their head. Tons of demon hunters already fall just to the fel. Imagine having the void and a demon you ate in your head.

I agree, and I would go on to say let Void Elves/Nightborne be Demon Hunters. Then also add Orcs/Draenei (with Fel Orc and Man’ari customization options), that would give 6 total races with 3 on each side. I will admit though that I would love to play a Night Elf DH Horde-side though :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@Powercrystal: I imagine it would be an absolute headache, but if one could manage to assimilate both within, it would make for one powerful Demon Hunter for sure I would think (lore-wise anyways). Maybe the Void cancels out the Demon, or vice-versa?

I think that demon hunters should definitely be opened to more races. Especially goblins and gnomes. It would allow us to have the closest thing we could ever have to play imps for one thing.

That isn’t really true any longer, now that all the allied races have been added. Isn’t it not basically every race can be one?

Gonna be a no from me. Blood elves are Horde. Night elves are Alliance. You are still those things regardless of your choice.

While I understand, I believe Demon Hunters are a special case in my opinion. They operate outside the Horde/Alliance as the Illidari. They shouldn’t be beholden to their respective races choices since they operate outside the confines of their races already. I would agree if it were a Blood Elf Mage, or Night Elf Druid, for example, but I don’t think a Night Elf Demon Hunter would care to join the Alliance based solely because her people are a part of it, especially since she would most likely be ostracized from her people due to being a Demon Hunter anyways.

@Caelin: After re-reading I can see where you’re coming from, though I intended that statement more towards the Death Knights being their own thing as the Ebon Blade similar to Demon Hunters are Illidari, not Death Knights having few race choices also. I have edited the OP to hopefully reflect that intent better.

@Gnomest: Honestly, I’m of the opinion that your race shouldn’t limit your class choices, so yes to Gnome and Goblin Demon Hunters!
