Demon Hunters and DKs start at LVL 8

I knew this prepatch nonsense was coming, but seeing it and trying to work through it has been trying. I enjoy Demon Hunters and wanted to level some on alternative servers with friends instead of starting a brand new toon.

I was told to make a DH, get it through the start area and after prepatch it will be fine. Well its not…they are ALL level 8 now. And if I start a DK from the login screen, its also level 8. What the heck…? What was the point of doing the DH starter zones and getting them ready, for them to get nerfed this bad.

The DH are ONE expac behind and now I have to get through 42 levels…no happening. Am I the only one?

You thought the DH would start at level 30?
You wanted to level with friends but really didn’t want to level?
You think level 8 is too low and have a better option in mind?
Not sure about the complaint here.

She has to lvl her demon hunter and isn’t happy about it. I think.

Or she tried to do the lvl shrink trick before prepatch and it didn’t work.

(The trick was making a fresh dk or demon hunter and finishing the start zone leaving you at like 60 or 100 respectively. Then when level squish hits you are brought to 23/30ish rather than 8.)

Honestly don’t know why you’re upset over this; this information was released back in April as an Official update.

“Players with Allied race characters will begin at level 10. Non-Allied race Death Knights, and Demon Hunters will automatically begin at level 8 and play through their own starting experience before moving on around level 10.”

Yes, I leveled 2 demon Hunters on seperate servers, got them out of their starter zone and left them there in the main city. Logged in today, and they are level 8. When they shouldnt be. They were 101 when i left them alone.

My other toons that were 100 and 101, were put to lvl 40. Not sure why my DH were missed.

there were warnings. you should have made a few DH before the prepatch.

Yes, by the end of their start zone I believe they are lvl 10. Though I haven’t made a demon hunter or dk so :man_shrugging:

Unless you were only doing legion invasions and getting FH boosted, its gonna take less time to level to 50 than it did before.

Stop crying.

I love a good thread for complaining but this aint it.

dunno if i broke the game but i started this char a few months back still in starting zone and its 39 >> <<

You still only have to do one expac per toon now vs. two for DH and five for DK before.

Sorry you didn’t get free levels, but you’ve still come out ahead overall.

If you did the starting zone on a DH before the prepatch the character should be around 43, not 8. I did exactly that, leaving the DH where you spawn in SW after finishing the starting zone, was 106 and she’s now 43.

You must have done something extremely wrong or didn’t actually level them before prepatch or something.

Yea, I’d expect the character to be 40 if that was the case. I cant’s find any information that indicates otherwise.

This worked for my Blood DK alt. He went from level 59 to level 25.

I didn’t level mine, just made them three hours before maintenance on Tuesday, picked up the first quest in their starter zone and let them sit there. My DK is level 23 and my DH is level 39. I have no idea what will happen when I try to quest. :woman_shrugging:t4:

Leveling as a DH sucks now.

Demonic is a level 50 talent and heirlooms are trash. It feels really really slow.

Good on Blizzard for recognizing the potential for abuse and fixing it.
