Alright so your demon hunter accepts a one time dangerous quest to investigate a Drustvar witch coven.
Along the way you see sight less “corpses” (bodies without souls - that were pulled into wicker forms). Fighting your way through the wicker beasts you see more corpses and ancient glyphs lining the walls.
The witches you interogate along the way warn you that the curses within the cave will bind you and if you fight mother crone you will never escape blah blah…
You reach the center and see eerie altars bathing the tunnel in blue light. You can see the wicker charms are networked throughout the cave lead to a
Enormous wicker boar. The charms lead to the segregated lifeless forms of various races of azeroth.
After jostling the inert wickan beast the mother crone appears and attacks. Between casting various ritual spells and summonings she begins binding your soul with a stacking spell.
The spell is a dot but also binds your health to hers.
During the fight you must break the laid out networks connecting the wicker beast to the soul draining corpses. Upon reaching the last link (and last chosen race of your preference the fight can conclude, the crone dies and your soul is shattered from your form.
Instead of going to SL it passes into the soul catcher conduit and surges towards the empty body. The last slivers of its soul flicker out and you shoot into the empty body (demon soul parasite and all).
Bam! Demon hunter of any race. Lore intact. Everyone’s happy.

Which doesn’t scale up at all beyond the single Demon Hunter who fell into the trap.
Also no need for me metamorphosis into new forms. When you do you instead shift into a shadowy version of your former self? I dunno just an idea.
You delete all your characters to sacrifice everything. Then any race can be a Demon Hunter… once

Just as only one demon hunter beat mage Tower and defeated a powerful demon general and earned an exclusive weapon skin?
With that kind of thinking shouldn’t there only be 36 or 11 players in the world to exclusivity play the particular classes or specs?

I don’t really have an opinion on DHs, but man… I am so down for blowing up everyone’s character…That’d be something.

Wouldn’t that basically make a Fel undead rather than a Demon hunter? The ritual was done on your body specifically, thus why they needed Illidan’s body in Nighthold and why he returned to it instead of a random one. The new body would have to consume a Demon’s flesh and carve out it’s new eyes to gain spectral sight etc. Every ritual step to the physiological component of the Demon Hunter transformation would have to be redone to the new body afterwards.

That’s nowhere near the same as being a playable race/class option.
All those tattoos aren’t just for show.
We can have more races be DH the nest time the Legion invades. It might be a bit of a wait though. . . plus your leader is a bit indisposed right now.
The tattoos are used to contain the Fel energies, not to transform them into Demon forms nor do they give them spectral sight, replacing their eyes with magic sensitive orbs and consuming Demon flesh and blood do those things. All things the new “race” bodies would have to do to themselves after having the soul put in. This can even be seen in non-DH who have consumed Fel-blood like Kil’jaeden where he grew bat like wings.
If this ever happens. I’m making a panda DH. I’ll do it. I made a panda DK. Every edgy class gets the panda treatment XD

Firstly, in order to be a demon hunter, you need to go through many rituals to do so, the two most notable ones being to bind a demon inside your body, and to gouge out your own eyes and have them replaced with the same fel fire that all other demons have which allows them to see demonkind even when they’re using illusions to disguise themselves.
Replacing the rituals with drust magic won’t work.
Truth be told, there’s nothing that really is stopping other races from becoming Demon Hunters. Any race could concievably undertake the rituals and attempt to become one. The real question is would they? Because you need to have an intense hatred for Demons to get there. Thus far the only races that really have that intense level of hatred are the Night Elves and the Blood Elves.
If the race options for Demon Hunters were to be expanded at all. The logical options would be Draenei and Orcs. Followed by Worgen and Trolls.

Yeah the dh would have to reclaim the new body with some similar rituals but the essence is there. Doesn’t seem out of the question.
