Except for the attunement. The Owls that drop the glands seem to be a 25% drop chance and are needed for other quests and are highly contested. At 40+ owlkin kills and only have 2 glands because im unlucky on my warlock.
The one miss is the lack of strong caster options in loot. Strength classes have multiple very strong pieces from the bosses and casters have middle or side grades at best, limiting the longevity for those classes to run it.
Casters get actual best in slot items from DFC (fire damage ring, caster shield)
Neither of the strength trinkets are better than Hand of Justice + Blackhand’s Breadth. They’re just “good enough” alternatives so you don’t have to bang your head against Emp for 50 runs.
So an item exclusive to fire mages, and a shield exclusive to elemental shaman that is only 2 spell damage better than the ST shield? Neither of those are bis, only pre-bis. I said lacking strong caster loot, not any caster loot.
Maybe for warrior. But both trinkets are bis for feral druids, like actual bis bis, and the Chalice is bis bis for ret paladins and enhancement shaman. Not replaced in raid.
It’s just math. 80 strength with 1/6th uptime = ~13 strength. The chalice is basically a 1% crit + 13 strength trinket.
1% crit is better than 13 strength for everyone who uses strength. So Blackhand’s Breadth comes out ahead.
The math obviously changes if you’re talking like 30-60 second fights (still not better for Warrior because Diamond Flask) - but who cares about those?
Except that the value of on demand procs is not the same as passive calculations for all classes. You do not know what you are talking about.
Or if say, you have powerful cooldown windows where most of your damage comes from, like paladins and ferals. I already said that warriors wouldn’t want it. Do you just like to argue past people?
Agreed, very good step towards the classic+ dream I know a huge portion of the community want. SOD was an ok trial, I love the class changes (apart from Shaman, they are definitely too OP), but I feel the devs were too scared to really experiment and change the world. Either that, or if they did make too many changes it would break the code/game.
If it’s just physical crit still on breadth than it’s a big whatever sandwhich for enhance atleast since it does 0 for your spells which are a large portion of your damage.
I enjoyed that dungeon thoroughly, and will be back once attunements and such are completed
Only change I would make is perhaps a bit more RP dialogue during fights with bosses and mobs to explain “why” it is, since there is not much surrounding it in game like quests. (Aside from warlocks)
