hello looking for a great or okay Demo Warlock player to look up to currently I feel like furry warriors out heal my damage.
Go ahead laugh, it’s funny I hate how much they can heal and I hate greater pyroblast, I’m here doing 4k shadow bolts and this guy is chucking 50k greater pyros with double blink
What I’m looking for really is where the damage should come from, I tried the pleasure through pain build and I like it alot but I don’t know if it’s the best
from my perspective most of the damage comes from nothing and then occasionally from tyrant

You’re probably trying to cast. Should stop doing that. Just let legion strike and passive imps generate shards while you jump around.

Yes. Doom, Soul Strike, and insta demonbolts are what generate shards. Dreadstalkers are instant. Only thing you should really be casting are fears and shadowfury. I only cast hand of guldan when targets are cc’d or they used their kicks to stop fear/shadowfury.
I’m sure some butthurt demo will try to come in here acting like it’s more than that and explaining some niche situations where they actually cast show bolts but ignore them. This is the playstyle.
Also they are extremely annoying to fight against. Especially as a caster it’s a nightmare.

I have only played mine a little since Legion and just hit 120 with it. Only know the playstyle. You should check demoniclilly or another demo locks gear for what’s preferred. I think it’s still the traits that buff tyrant that are preferred.

Hey. I main a demo lock actually. I normally like to partake in duels or 2v2 arena and that’s as far as my BFA PvP experience goes.
I see you are seeking advice on how to beat fury warriors in particular. Honestly if its a 1v1 situation or a duel against a fury warrior as a demo, there’s really no chance of you winning. Not only is their healing something that you would have to overcome, which is pretty hard to do especially since our damage is pretty bad outside of cooldown(s), but their mobility and slows are something that would be of a counter to us.
But if you generally want to know where a good brunt of your damage comes from, its your demonic tyrant (as many other previous posts have mentioned). Other than that, a lot of your damage typically comes from your pets (mainly dreadstalkers and fel guard). The spec is designed poorly right now imo. Having your significant damage source come from a pet that can easily be avoided is not fun especially when its really predictable and you have no other damage options that could provide enough sustained pressure.
As for the gear (artifact pieces), I’d highly recommend having atleast 1 Baleful Invocation (having more than 1 would be nice as well as it stacks) and Supreme Commander ( this one stacks as well and can give you a nice boost of intellect after your tyrant expires for more potential damage). The rest are up to you, depending on your style of preference as I would say there aren’t really any ideal options for the spec. Hope this helps. Good luck!

That’s great! I would like to give some explanation on how demonic consumption works and why I stack mastery. My philosophy is if you understand how something works it allows to get consistent or better results more often.
Demonic consumption is based off how much energy your imps have left before they’re sacced not about how many imps you have out.
To set up a big tyrant you need to do 2 hand of guldans (with 3 shards)in a row. It’s important to do it in 1 go, like this Hog-demonbolt-Hog-tyrant. Don’t want to have too much stoppage in between them because then your imps spend energy and that makes your tyrant % lower. If you want to know the % of your tyrant just mouse over his buff or Idk if there is an addon for it. Typically when you do a 2 hog tyrant you can get a 240-270% buff. If you go for a triple hog tyrant you can get up to 300% but it requires you to do more casting so only go for it if the situation arises.
The Consumption talent scales well with mastery and baleful traits. A few points in mastery and 420 balefulsX 3 can raise your tyrant’s damage several thousands points. You got 50k, I’m sure that is a crit right? I get 40k non crits and 70-80k crits in arenas.

I hit him pretty hard and that was before I had more 420 balefuls and had less mastery.
1 other reason I prefer to stack mastery is cuz it increases your kill potential during tyrant downtime. Because it increases the damage demonic strength does. Now 1 big flaw demo has is that its damage after tyrant is bad. But with high mastery, demonic strength ,and 2 on use trinkets(typically I go with maledict and an on use int trinket) you can and I have landed kills without tyrant. The reason for 2 on use is that I use one during tyrant to give it a boost in damage and I use the other one during DS if I feel like I can land a kill before my tyrant comes up.
Well its pretty late and that’s about all I can type atm, but if you ever have some demo questions you can ask me if you want.
That explains why when I tried to get like 12 imps it was often not as strong as 7-9
