I saw a couple of different sources and it's saying something different as far as the rotation goes. I was building 5 soul shards and just using Hand of Gul'dan as many times as I could before I used implosion and used my Dreadstalkers only when they lit up to use only one soul shard instead of 2. Well I saw another source and it was telling me build 5 soul shards and use my dreadstalkers the very first thing followed by Hand of Gul'dan. I use Demonbolt and Soul Strike on CD and use implosion when I have as many imps up as possible before they vanish or as the fight allows. So what exactly should I be doing first for the most dps output?
Er, I use Demonbolt when it's lit not on CD. Sorry. :\
I'm still getting used to demo myself but generally you want to cast HoG at 3 shards, you don't want to implosion on ST, you want to cast dreadstalkers on CD, and you only want to hard cast demonbolt during pre-pull otherwise shadowbolt is your filler. Unless of course you have the azerite trait that buffs your hard cast demonbolt but I don't think it's that great of a trait to take anyhow. Would depend on your other options.

You want to cast Dreadstalkers as close to on CD as you possibly can. The only time you need to build to 5 shards is when you're AoEing, so that you can go through an implosion rotation (which you can read about doing at that LOSS link) - otherwise you're fine to spend shards on HoG on anywhere from 3-5 shards, you basically just want to ensure you aren't going down to 0 shards from a HoG right as dreadstalkers or vilefiend comes off CD, as you should always have the shards available to cast them right away.
Precast demonbolt on pull
Felstalkers > vilefiend > grimoire (if talented) > tyrant > demonic strength > sboltx3 (felstorm when strength felstorm done) unless demonic core procs the DB > then sbolt to three shards (or DB if procs or movement) and hog cycle using stalkers on CD
For AOE you implode asap as imps spawn because they do less damage per imp that implodes the longer they are out and cycle in felstorm and strength as needed.
Soul strike is better imo for aoe because it provides more shards and mobility and a second charge allowing for easier felstorm placement. Pursuit usage for positioning is vital.

Imploding imps as soon as they spawn is a huge waste of GCDs. Damage on their main target scales based on the remaining energy, while all additional targets will take full implosion damage as if the imp was at maximum energy. It's virtually the same damage per imp to implode them regardless of their energy, which is why you implode in waves of 6-9 to be more efficient in terms of GCDs

Thanks for that. Great to know. So 2-3 HoGs per Implosion. I will use this from now on!
