Demo lock is easily the weakest spec in pvp right now by huge margins. It’s not just a low damage thing even though that is also a major issue. The spec just plays really bad in pvp right now. The overhaul did no good for demo in pvp at all and 90% of the talents are extremely under-tuned.
Every other ranged spec in the game has instant cast options. Demo is required to cast everything but does the least amount of damage which makes no sense. This expansion has seen all 3 lock specs lose survivability in pvp including Demo. So demo is essentially the only spec in the game which is still a true turrent spec with poor survival, poor damage, and poor mobility.
An argument could be made that the spec has some of the best cc in the game. But so do a lot of other specs which don’t have to give up any damage…think boomkin, mage, rogue, dh, the list goes on.
Demo hasn’t felt this bad in PVP since season 1 of Shadowlands. The way the spec is currently is really outdated in the current pvp environment. Other specs have way too much micro-cc and regular cc and mobility for a spec like Demo to survive.
I think that for Demo to survive in its current state in pvp it needs to be literally the highest single target caster damage output in the game. The spec sort of had that when tyrant was a thing. But now it is the worst spec in every category in pvp and it’s not cool.

They won’t buff demo anytime soon cause aff and destro are in a good state right now.
Though i generally agree, demo hard casting has increased since the recent core nerf.

I get what you’re saying but demo is one of those specs thats thrown into the tree with bm when its really good its bad for pvp. Nobody likes being killed by pets or demons chasing you around the entire time and cluttering up your screen.
If they buffed the damage the warlock does itself along with fel guard and didnt have them spawn an army of demons it wouldn’t be as bad.

Again modern WoW has many classes and specs with pets and stuff cluttering the screen…think UH dk, WW, and shadow priest literally have a pet build, BM hunter. Again these classes don’t sacrifice damage for being the spec that they are.
I’m not asking for demo to be good into every situation like some other specs seem to be. All I’m saying is if they will be the only spec in the game that has to be stationary to do their damage, then their damage should really count for something in PVP.
Spells like Chaos Bolt and Glacial Spike, Touch of the Magi, Aim shot just to name a few require set up or have a cast time or both, but they all do heavy damage. The entire premise of Demo spec is build-up and hard casting to a much higher degree than these other classes, but does far less damage.
This is not a new problem with Demo it’s just very bad now with new build. Since I don’t see Blizzard changing any of the major micro-cc flaws that they’ve introduced into pvp over time, the least they can do is make the spec that suffers from it the most have some recourse.

Vilefiend and Tyrant should be an instant cast. Such a small change would make the spec much more enjoyable without breaking it.
But overall damage needs to be buffed.
Also bring back Nether portal and change it to insta cast.
