So I have pretty much always played affliction except for a couple months playing the other specs and I just tried out demonology and I’m having fun but I have about a 900 dps difference as demo than aff (keep in mind this is with aff conduits and lego). Could any demo players tell me if it’s worth switching if I grind the correct conduits, lego and possibly switch covenants. I mainly do pve but dont think I would switch from aff in pvp.
Imo demo is the most enjoyable spec but it could use some buffs/cooldown tuning. If you’re going for dps affl is probably better

AOE is pretty much the only thing we are better at, fun wise demo is more fun imo. If dps is your thing then stick with aff for sure.

I don’t mind too much if I pull less dps, my guild is pretty casual but how much would you say the demo legos affect its damage.
im in the same boat. demo is way more fun. just need more haste to make it work and pray for buff. haste should get better as expansion goes on.
If you wanna bop the meters you go Aff. If you just wanna have fun demo is the play. Luckily you shouldn’t feel tooooooo hurt by going demo once you get comfortable with the spec. Until you start doing mythic raiding and the flaw become more glaring
Legos for demo are odd. Most are useful in regular setting tbh but they also don’t impact much in what we actually DO. They are pretty invisible bumps to dps outside of a few things. You look for 12+ imps to implode with hand leggo instead of 9+. You maintain buff with Balespider. Etc etc…minor minor gameplay changes but useful.
It is not worth switching.
Demo is in an abysmal state rn and will be outperformed by destro and aff.
As someone who is leveling a demo warlock as an alt, what are the recommended lego and covenants? I’ll probably pvp with this character even though it’s not the best spec to do so.
I’m not entirely sure on that myself but I think most people run necrolord and the chance for an extra hand of guldan
Night Fae is best all around for Demo, Necro for ST.
lego is more complicated but best all around are Horned Nightmare and Demonic Synergy. Balespiders has potential but doesn’t eclipse anything else yet. Implosion is good in m+

that’s a leggo ability and not a covenant one. it’s called Horned Nightmare.
necrolord gives Decimating Bolt which can pump up your Demonbolt numbers and meshes well with Balespider leggo and Power Siphon for the Demonbolt build.
i actually went demo for raid last night and was top dps on sludgefist, and stone generals
im ilvl 198 and most of my guildies have better gear then me
demo is just really enjoyable
i switched just because demo is just fun to play. aff better numbers but it is what it is.

I’m in much the same situation. I’m playing Aff at the moment but it seems like any time aoe gets involved I’m getting smashed on it. I really enjoy demo so I’m considering the swap. Truthfully I’m not sure how big of a difference it is anyway since most warlocks at the top end aren’t touching demo with a 10 foot pole and people follow along with it
Isn’t the answer which one you like playing better? Only you would know that.
For me, i like how much more robust demo feels and the greater control with the fel guard cc; and i strongly disliked the post-legion playstyle changes for Aff.

My DPS was abysmal on Sludgefist as Demo which is a DPS race boss. I thought about dropping so they could pull someone else in. Our CDs don’t mesh well at all with Sludgefist’s 70 second charge and the 15s window where you do all of your DPS. I’m going to persevere with demo but it really does need a dmg boost.
Pretty much this OP, If if you wanna excel in PvE go Affliction, Demo is alright but Afflic pulls way ahead in all PvE content, Demo needs some tuning big time.
I just killed H Sludge, I was Demo them switched to Affliction, even still using my Demo Legendary, i out dpsd myself as Demo…
I said to the guild imagine if I had a Affliction Legendary…
Demo needs tuning.
Yeah I just switched from demo back to aff in my raid, I wasn’t bottoming meters or anything but I knew it’d be smoother as aff. Would you say demo performs better in dungeons than aff as I’d still like to play it now and then.
