It would be nice if Demo Locks could have better use of their summoned pets, like Felguard is our best “pet” to summon to maintain aggro and CC while dealing damage.
I would love to use the the Felhunter, Voidlords, Succubus, Tyrant and Imp. I feel like Demo Lock (and yes, I do play w/ a Demo Lock when I’m not playing my Hunter) should be able to use those summoned pets with mixable pet abilities within the Pet Tab in the Spell book. Though that might be a challenge in itself for the devs.
For instance, we can have the Felhunter have interchangeable abilities to act like the Felguard, or have a Voidlord be our “Felguard” tank and DPS. I have really never used any other pet to do my bidding because of the utility the Felguard brings for Demo Lock as the standard pet to summon for pretty much all content to include end game content like Raiding and M+.
- Do any other Demo Locks feel the same?
- Do you have a preference on what pet you use?
- How do you feel about interchangeable pet abilities to allow other Demo Lock pets being more utilized?
- Does it actually matter what summoned pet you use even though the Felguard is mainly suggested?
Thanks
Demo having to only use FG sucks and I’d love a 2nd demon out
I would prefer unique models for additional demo pets, as they should be stronger versions of the base warlock demons, but they already exist as a remnant of grimoire of supremacy.
Fel Imp, Voidlord, Shivarra, Observer, Abyssal, and Terrorguard are all options.
Some more unique options would be using jaliers or inquisitors as the ranged option, mo’arg brute for tank, and making the felguard purely the melee damage option.
They would ultimately need to rework a few talents to make them work with the new pets.
For instance, Demonic Strength would need to affect each pets large damage cooldown in a similar manner. Guillotine would need to be reworked. Soul strike would be fine as it could just be made ranged for the range demon.
Striking a balance in utility would be important as well. I would prefer to just have all demons gain spell lock by default and then each get a specialized utility like the imp dispel or dog purge. Axe toss could just become a stun only.
This is likely an expansion level change but it would be a huge boon for demo in my opinion.
Anyone curious that they made that new cool demon transmog system and made no new demon models for demonology.
At the minimum I would of expected then to at least start adding some of the demon models from legion every now and then after making that mog system for pets but they just created added some few pets models, didn’t make any new models demonology (you know the demon spec) and just said ok we’re done here. ???
As a matter of fact what was the point of making a demon transmog system for a class just to leave it behind.
If you add pets for hunter in about every patch you should be able to do the same for warlock pets.
I play Aff, but I have always found it weird that Demo has a unique pet which is just the default universal choice. You’re not a demo lock, you’re a felguard lock.
IMO:
-Felguard should be damage output/talent buffed/etc
-DM should get a second pet summon from the standard list that provides that pets unique utility the same as it does for other locks
-Their rotation should rotate around the FG and utility demon more than directly attacking, which frees it a little more from Aff/Destro identity wise.
Demo definitely missed out when it came to Demon Transmogs, unless they passed off the Wrathguard as the enhanced version, which would be lame!
100% agree here. Even obtaining the different pet customizations colors and forms from dungeons, raids and quests seems like they’re not being used to their full potential as “pets” since Demo is just stuck on one main pet when there’s 6 to choose from.
Unlike Hunters, their pet families Ferocity, Cunning and Tenacity are situational that can be widely used in pretty much any content. Although, Ferocity is more favorable bc that family of pets has Primal Rage which is the Hunters “Hero” which is mainly sought out for in Mythic+ when there’s a non-hero class in the group.
