So if I’m reading and watching things right it looks like Demo will be the preferred spec in 9.2? I played Aff for quite a while and demo has always intrigued me. I’m thinking of rolling one again because I really love the fantasy of locks and the mogs are just too good.
I hear a lot of gripes about them in general so I’m curious what spec everyone is taking into 9.2. Would it be worthwhile to roll demo and maintain it or should I just continue being Aff. My biggest complaint is the AoE difference between the two but I’ve never played Demo high enough to truly test that against the Aff. I figure if Affliction is going to fall behind Demo then I may as well take the opportunity to just embrace demo now.

If Destro gets the right love it might be a real contender BUT right now it’s an RNG set so hopefully they listen to the feedback and make some changes we’ll see!
The problem of destruction is the damage is simply not there. Removing the RNG would not solve the issue. It’s quite possibly the worst damage spec in the game atm in 9.2 even if you are not unlucky. IMO Destruction is fun to play as it is i don’t have a problem with the spec at all and the tier set bonus look fun. But i have a very big problem with the damage (or lack of) Chaos Bolt does. For a long cast forcing you to be a turret the damage profile is laughable at best.
As for demo as long as blizzard doesn’t solve the many problems of the spec it will keep being frustrating to play and very punishing. Having 3 dogs will be fun and might actually make the dogs build more viable outside of niche aoe and imo the dog build is more fun and make the tyrant set up less painful overall. But the downtime in mythic+ will keep being a problem and the turret nature of the spec just doesn’t work with the game in 2022.
Never really was interested in juggling DoTs and hurling Chaos Bolts which seems like Obliterate on a Cast Time.
Even with my Witch gets stronger with her Demon Summoning that is very reminiscent to Frost DK in BfA, don’t know if I’d still play it.
I love Demo, even there are frustrating aspects to it. But I’ve faced worse. 
it depends on what your content of choice is and the level at which you do it. you can push most any content in the game on any spec as long as you find it fun and be comfortable on it. Demo is going to be very very strong in progression raiding because its very very stable in terms of damage profile and its tuned quite well atm with the tier set just being a solid buff to DCon. if you are looking to push something like HOF or high end raiding then yeah, probably know how to play demo. but if you’re not, play what youre comfy on and maybe learn the other specs in some offtime to be more well rounded. it is absolutely not mandatory, and its really on A+ or S tier in Raiding as far as PVE goes
