Demo itemization discrepancy

Hello!

Hoping to get some insight on demo itimization. I have gathered some BiS items, items focusing on crit, haste or mastery. For some reason, having all those items, the Raidbots site tends to prioritize Versatility items and gems over the other stats. I thought i should have 33 haste, yet i have 28 and still the sim site tells me Vers is better.

Am i missing something? Please help.

Vers and Crit hold more value for Demo than they have in the past, due to multiple factors, but all secondaries are pretty good. The best advice is to sim your gear and wear whatever sims the highest. You can sim gems and enchants as well. It is not recommended to sim stat weights as multiple gear/stat configurations can get you near the bis sim profile. 33 haste seems arbitrary and I wouldn’t recommend focusing on that number.

The shift in stats comes from so many on-use items (Staff, Beloralos, Nymue’s) which all scale with vers and have a chance to crit as well as this season’s tier set scales with vers and has a chance to crit.

Mastery is pretty devalued now (not to say you don’t want some). Think my Demo set ended up 30% crit, 26% haste, 18% vers, and 24% mastery?

Haste is still a valuable stat (though some top demo locks are running as little as 16-18% haste and blowing stuff up).

Thanks so much! Just confusing when wowhead says one thing and raidbits says the other

Demo is stacking crit/vers

Haste isn’t a most valuable stat. This is confirmed by locks running such low haste.

This comment contradicts its self.

Weird I was going to ask the same question for for Destro.

Wow head guide says stack:

  1. Intellect
  2. Haste
  3. Mastery
  4. Critical Strike
  5. Versatility
  • haste = mastery >= crit >> vers

Icy Veins stat guide

  1. Intellect;
  2. Haste to about 30%;
  3. Critical Strike ≅ Versatility;
  4. Mastery.

Your demons, my demons and rifts scale of versatility, haste, crit, intellect but not mastery.

At this point I am looking up warlocks who got high parses and check their stats. For Destro they stack vers to like 15%-20%.

I would check top demo locks how their stats look.

Basically Destro and demo are stacking crit vers due to the onnuse items.

If you have spindle/iridal/baelors you want crit/vers

If you don’t you want haste.

Your best bet is to sim yourself.

Edited to say “still valuable” but you’re right: gear dependent. According to my sims using Iridal’s and Nymue’s haste is still up there for me … maybe if I added Beloralos it’d be less valuable but I’ve opted out of using it cause it’s annoying af in raids.

The Issue people have is thinking of secondary stats in “absolutes”, they believe secondary stats are unshakable, constant in how good they are.

People will say " Secondary Stat w > Secondary Stat x > Secondary Stat y > Secondary Stat Z" and create this illusion that at any point in your itemization it will always be so.

It will go to the point they will value the first two even more than the past the point and often times undervalue the latter two.

Stats aren’t so, they interact with each other, Invest in Crit? increase the value in Haste (As you cast more crits per minute), Mastery (As your pets deal more hits per minute) and Versa (As you and your pets do more casts per minute); Invest in Versa? and Crit value goes up, Haste value also goes up (as each extra cast is bigger) and Mastery goes up (as Pet damage is multiplied by versa and mastery in a Base Damage Times Mastery Times Versa)

In this sense, every secondary stat is “worth it” under their given proportion, this have a number of considerations.

Someone with 15100 of secondary stat rating can easily invest 30% in crit (4635 rating), 27% in haste(4636 in rating), 25% in versa (4635) and 21% in mastery (1168 in rating).

Someone with only 10000 of secondary stat rating (lower ilvl) cannot, and they shouldn’t for exemple try to copy those statlines, as clearly, he has less stats, and to copy 1 secondary stat of the other player will involve sacrificing rating in the other ones.

It’s why you will see some people with sim advicing you to hit a secondary stat of X% in Haste, but for others it says for them to Drop haste from X% to Y%.

In the end, the best advice i can give you about sims is use https://www.raidbots.com/simbot

It’s not only that, Demonology does more player-related damage currently than in 10.0 or 10.1 even without nymue, belor or iridal/spindle, meaning a secondary stat who increase player damage in general grew in worth , while a secondary stat who only increase pet damage lost some worth.

Thanks so much. I have been simming every piece that i collected and have an entire other set of less desired pieces in bank in case something flip flops.
