As reported in the rollup by warcraftlogs:
- The top ranked hunter (by DPS) is 1,022, so none in the top one thousand.
- 4 Hunters show DPS in the 800s.
- 22 Hunters are in the top 4000 unique character records.
- 33 Hunters show DPS in the 700s.
- All other parsed Hunters in the world are at or below phase 3 levels.

QUICK MATH: If we did something crazy, like make raid groups filled with only the top 4000 DPS, then there are not enough Hunters to put only one in each raid. In fact, 78% of those raids would be without a hunter.

Are you seriously asking about the DPS rank of a class that tanks, heals, and buffs? A druid can change forms to fulfill all three roles. For raids, tanking and healing works best. What role does a Hunter perform? Pulling? Tranqing? No. It is DPS.
That’s okay. You don’t need to be pulling uber dps unless you’re trying to push content as fast as possible. Guilds cleared raids with 10+ hunters back in vanilla, and they can do it now.

This is my alt. My main is an enhancement shaman, so yeah my dps aint so hot either.
My point is, if guilds 16 years ago that had no idea how to play this game, had crappy internet, and ran the game at 6 fps could clear raids with 10+ hunters, then why cant we as players with tons of addons, good connection, easy communication, and literally everything working on our side?

Also, Classic is at the end of its life at this point, blizzard isn’t going to bother updating it to fix either yours or my DPS short comings.
They are going to push into TBC. And where are Hunters at on those charts?
If you can get Blizzard to actually address the issues, more power to you but not likely, they already gave Hunters a buff when they addressed a World buff not impacting them which is more than they gave druids who can’t even talk to vendors or quest givers without dropping form.
So do something productive about your problem and build a time machine so you can go complain to vanilla’s devs?
I don’t think the devs would care, considering the fact that raids were already overrun with hunters back in vanilla. Buffing them back then would’ve just made the raids easier.
Meters and parsing are a cancer on the game.

Some classes get on top dps. So what? Do you really expect a class balance?
Hunter DPS is not garbage and is definitely a plus in the raid, Tranq shot just to say one.
If you can’t enjoy the class then play another one. As simple as that.

Hunters don’t scale to the Nth degree like other classes do. NO one cares.
Bring tanq shot and dismiss your pet. You have an easy class to play at a level that will clear all the content in the game.
Wait for TBC or WoTLK if you are truly butt hurt hunters are not number 1 dps.

Ridiculous, hunter dps is almost on par with warlock dps at the 99th percentile. Hunter is not bad dps, far from it.
Classic is a game where every spec is super unique and not near their balanced form, which people knew coming into this and also enjoy and accept (like myself).
If you really want to push your hunter’s dps just compare yourself to other hunters, at the highest levels of gameplay you’re not gonna beat warriors ever in classic
