Delves too complicated now; wrong use of Delves; pittance rewards

I like The Dread Pits as one of the simplest Delves to just go in, straight-forward path, and take out enemies. No weird keep-a-candle-lit or super-mario-jumping-mushoom-mini-game or weird things like that. Just straight up tank and spank or whatever.

With Season 2, I go in (oh, and Brann’s curio are bugged, they’re all missing and can’t be selected k thanks), and now The Dread Pit is like a world-quest zone with multiple objectives. WTH.

Delves were supposed to be like small, quick dungeons. Not a mini-campaign.
I have to find and turn off 3 power controls (of what? no idea at first, there’s multiple “sparkly” things in the place now of different types). Also, kill/destroy 30 “supplies” which seem to be crates, but to do that, must use a tossable bombs that I have to find in piles, then (as a rogue use Sprint) to run back and lob the bombs before they self-destruct. So clear the initial, then have to waste time scouting out the area to determine where more crates are at…vs. where there’s another pile and optimize. Meanwhile, getting through multiple mobs in the way (why in Season 2, in Undermine, and in general, it’s always 1 vs. 5 on average?). Oh and just using “Darkfuse Explosives” is added as a quest, which seems like useless bloat. It’s obvious you have to use them. Despite you only need to use it 1/1 times, the mini-map is littered with gear icons and highlighted areas, which are “to help” show where Darkfuse Explosives are at. Of course, the minimap looks like the inside of a wastebin so it’s info overload to try and use that vs. the actual terrain to see where they ACTUALLY are. Not to mention all the clutter and tesla things and bolts and junk flying around. Info overload. There’s also a “teleporter” mini-game that just wastes more time. Finally, the “power stations” don’t give credit, seem bugged, kept “turning back on” one of them did, so had to run around the whole map killing everything thinking maybe it has to be in some order? It just randomly “worked” and main boss became available. Maybe I’m getting old. Oh, and if this whole post so far seems like one giant cluttered paragraph, cool (because) I wanted to use this as a way to convey further how the clutter and bloat in the Delve makes me feel.

It took 20min. just to finish. Of course, after killing the boss, he had dropped some puddle of void goo that does massive damage…that the fricken reward chests spawned on top of. lmao. Great have to spend more time in the delve waiting for that to vanish so I could loot.

Finally, the worse insult, was no rewards dropped. I don’t consider grey junk item vendorable for 20g a “reward”. Instead I got white-items:
Ancient Curio - turn in to get 100 crystals which you need thousands just to buy an ugly cosmetic with
Biofuel Rocket Gear - a curio that increases movement speed by a measily 2% for measily 10% if it procs, assuming it’s even worth to have as a curio to being with (nope).
Weather Undermine Crest x 5 - a whole whopping 5, which most things cost 15 crests to buy a measily 3-ilevel upgrade, so 2 more 20min. Delve runs to be able to do that?
Of non-white items:
Archaic Ciper Key - no idea what this is for, it’s not explained, “too many keys”. Most seem required just to do a more “bountiful” (aka longer, more difficult, convoluted, time-wasting…) Delve. Whippty-do!
Valorstones x 16 - you need about 50 to level up an item so more Delves runs needed to be of any worth. Just pittance here.
Viridian Charmcap - some crafting junk because my Alchemy skill is low (it’s not worth the grind, when I can just buy what I need from the AH for much less), and need 30 in a specialization to learn Algari Potion Cauldron (epic) to craft, which all that does, it just spawns a cauldron party members can use with 5min. time limit to get potions my warband knows how to make. Which is barely any. So it’s useless. Oh, and this “Viridian Charmcap” is RNG drop item, and the cauldron requires x5 to craft it, among a million other things. It vendors for 2g or can try and sell in AH. lol. Point being: it’s useless.

No items, no gear. Gear is needed to do Season 2 dungeon/raid.

This is very bad because Delves were advertised as being an alternative for casual players (like me) to do instead of a long dungeon or raid, but as a mini-one, intended to be quick, and as a way to get the same type of good gear one would get in those things.

Instead, it’s been deformed to be solo-dungeons required to get RNG gear, in order to do actual dungeons, to get better gear, to do actual raids.

The only way to do dungeons and raid for Season 2 is have iLevel 606 gear, but anything that has given any reward so far only rewards are 597-600. The cost to upgrade is much higher and only a few Season 2 items drop (see all that stuff above). I noticed no world quests that reward items exist anymore in Season 2, checked all the regions. AH has only 597. What a grind. Whereas Siren’s Isle was great to gear up alts, those are “Season 1”, which really just makes the whole idea of grindy “Seasons” very grindy, anti-casual, anti-gamer. The very unrewarding Season 2 really feels like a “Don’t Bother Unless You’re Bored Outta Your Skull” type of version of WoW.

No one I know who plays like Season 2, and have stopped playing. They keep trying and it’s just so depressing. It’s seems designed to discourage playing the game, like maybe wanting us to take-off and take a break from WoW. Guess I’ll do that too?

Delves are awesome, my favorite content along with the challenge bosses.

If Delves are too complicated for you maybe try follower dungeons or pet battles.

Once you get used to them you can get the time down to like 8-11 minutes. But 20 minutes for crests and a 100% chance on a piece of loot is generous for time invested.

I’m liking Season 2 Delves better than Season 1. :no_good_man:

I’m not a huge fan of season 2 delves so far either. There are some things to clear up about your post though.

Brann’s curios being gone is not a bug. Season 2 has all new curios and you have to find them. The intro quest for S2 delves that Brann has explains that a goblin stole all his curios and hat.

What tier were you running? Was it bountiful? If you run tier 8 or above in a bountiful delve and you have a restored coffer key, you get the highest ilvl gear delves can give.

FYI, after the boss dies you don’t have to wait for the void pools to disappear. They don’t do damage after the boss is dead.

One thing that annoys me is the new “candle” mechanics. Used to be they run out when you move. Now they don’t run out but we have to keep placing them. I don’t know which one is more annoying.

My only complaint about season 2 delves is that I think the web spreaders should be inactive for 2 more seconds at a time or their radius reduced by 5%. I need a couple of places to stand.

New one is easier. You just pick up every single one and throw them around. Pick them up while you move to the next area and throw them all over the place.

You can make a huge map out of candles.

Same here… A LOT better than S1. :raising_hand_woman:

Mama getting herself a myth crafted staff next week, dunno what OP is on about.

Makes it easier for me. Since I am not always having to drop them in combat. Also in the boss room, toss one in each quadrant and you have the entire room to move around in.

Sounds like you were doing a low level delve… the rewards reflect that.

These things sell for about 300g on the AH on my full population server… so hardly pointless. Also consider leveling your professions.

Quest item that you hand in at the delve area in dornogal for many rewards.

I’ll be honest it sounds like either a. you are just whining to whine, or b. you expect max level rewards for the easiest content in the game… either way seems like a skill issue.

While I wasn’t a fan of this change either, it is explained if you paid attention at all to Brann’s very short “intro to season 2” story. The season’s new nemesis, the Underpin, stole them all. Get rekt.

Cry more, if possible.

Delves are the biggest free loot pinata the game has ever created. They require no skill, are the easiest content in the game, and reward the player handsomely.

Go play another game.

I don’t like the changes to spores in the myco dungeons. Using them as a weapon rewarded player ingenuity. Getting good at it made fungal folly just about the fastest delve to run.

I also hate (hate) the changes to webs. Those web spreader nodes that make sure there’s always webs behind you. The worst. Those webs summon nerubians. I’m not supposed to stand in 'em!

The changes to the candle and air purifier mechanic are good. Those were horrendous.

I didn’t read all that so I’m just going to respond to the title

Delves too complicated

lmao

I’m really enjoying S2 delves. I love…wait that’s not enough, I ADORE the fact you get stacks of “candles” or whatever and you can just throw them down as needed. AH MAZE ING change.

Or a troll, it is Sunday after all.

now we can get close to mythic by being able to upgrade to 6/6 hero which also unlocks mythic tmog

the curios are not bugged, and none of the delves are “too complicated” this is without a doubt a skill issue.
