Delves need to be tweaked more

My fury warrior husband struggles hard with delves at 8 while I who is much worse player can do them on ret paladin.

The scaling seems to be messed up with duos badly. That it makes it not worth it.

If it is a skill thing, why can I solo it and my husband who is a much better player, done some of the hardest content in game can’t? And when we duo it becomes even worse for us?

Something is not right at all here. Mind you he can do some of them, but the amount of potions, and crazy stuff he needs while i just go in and take care of it makes me question things.

reason: hotfix made all delves scale to group players now. one person, scales to them, two players, mobs scale way up. thank blizz for the fun detection.

It’s because different specs have different tools at their disposal.

I cleared a few tier 8 Delves up to the bosses on a fresh level 80 Frost Mage with 512 ilvl today which was specced Frostfire with no Glacial Spike or Ray of Frost (absolutely not an optimal build, but I hate being stuck in place for the casts/channels).

Bosses are absolutely impossible for me. I can’t CC them and at that ilvl I don’t have the damage to take them down before I run out of ways to dance around them and survive.

Had I been playing Fire or Arcane, I don’t think I make it to the boss at that ilvl. I just wouldn’t have the control tools to survive.

Getting it right for every spec is a massive task that will take a lot of work.

Duos are honestly the easiest I think I’ve seen delves. One person alone gets a lot of pressure that requires strategy. But with 4 or so you either have super long fights of avoiding 1 shots while trying to manage more bodies.

Maybe it is class setup. Sometimes I feel like I am not playing the same game as some of you.

Not even just class, but spec.

As a Frost Mage most of my spells slow things. Then I can spec into things like Frostbite, which gives most of my spells a chance to freeze and root things. Plus all the other crowd control and mobility Frost Mage has access to.

It doesn’t matter if melee mobs are scary, I have the tools to ensure they never get the chance to hit me. Which allows me to instead focus on the threats I can’t stop with CC first, like spellcasters.

But if I were playing Fire or Arcane I’m not sure how I’d go with keeping melee mobs at bay, which would then leave me stuck having to deal with them and any casters at the same time - which is probably too much, at least at the ilvl my mage is at and the tier of Delve I was doing.

So even within a single class there can be big differences in what each spec can do.

512 is not high enough ilvl, dude.

I know, I never thought I would clear a tier 8 and wouldn’t want to be able to at that level.

I was actually surprised I made it to some bosses, though that also probably depends on the Delves too. There’d be some that would just smoke me.

I just wanted to see what tier 8 Delves were like on something that’s not my DK - and I’m comfortable my Frost Mage will be perfectly fine with better gear.

I have the same issue on my fury warrior. I had to play my ret to be able to finish a 7. I stopped my sub until they fix things. I am a solo player and was false advertised on this. It’s way easier in a group than solo, especially after the Brann nerf from yesterday where he became a pet battle

i play an arcane mage and have the same issue, can get to the boss and just can’t get them down solo

He might be undergeared. Or just bad at the game. Or just playing delves wrong. I’ve had to really shift the way I fight things. There are far more enemy abilities that can be actively avoided. I’ve had to stay far more mobile. Almost feels like pvp combat sometimes.

sounds like someone is owed back massages from all that carrying.

To be fair, I don’t expect to be able to take a tier 8 boss down at 512. I was just experimenting outside of the ivory tower that is my DK.

Hopefully once my mage has better gear I will be able to.

My point was that I don’t think I would have even made it to the boss at 512 on Fire or Arcane, because they have different kits to Frost. It was Frost’s crazy control that got me there.

Bottom line is you can’t even tune delves by class, it has to be by spec.

I must be terrible. Im ilvl 570+ and delves lvl 4 and up become almost impossible solo.

Wasn’t this feature supposed to be for solo players?

Doing delves in a group is like a 25 man party doing 5 man dungeons.

Blizzard, pick a lane and stay there.

Sooo…what are you saying is…as a bm player like me, going in as bm, i have to change spec just to get through a delve that was intended to be solo played in order to make it through it ?. i’ll say this…just like another poster above this post said ^^, i must be one bad player after all these yrs ? ( which i know i am somewhat decent )…and now a hotfix gets tossed in to ruin it for each and every class, spec, all of it ?..sorry…not buying it. delves were ‘’ ok ‘’ before the hotfix…but now ?..nope…try doing them in a group, and see how fast you die !..lol.

You seem like a player that just wants to argue and complain.

What part of

Would give you that impression?

no, i was honestly asking you a question…should we change spec mid run ?..or does blizz need to fix it class wide ?. sorry if you took it wrong.

For what it’s worth, delves aren’t really built the same as the other ‘hardest content in the game’. For one, unless there’s a tank and/or healer present, that means there’s going to be a lot more aggro on you and/or a lot less healing coming your way. Folks who primarily play DPS in dungeons and raids probably aren’t really used to facetanking stuff and not having a pocket healer to top them up shortly after they take damage. Fury’s a pretty durable spec from what I hear, so it sounds like he may be one of these players. Maybe not necessarily bad at content that isn’t run with a trinity, but not used to it.

Im at ilvl 590 right now, most 8’s don’t bother me, I do F all damage but they can’t break my ignore pain, and if I prioritize spell casters, I’m fine. Bosses have a lot of Hp so I’m just running circles for 10 minutes while I whittle them down, so I had a shaman friend duo with me and boy was it easy, EZPZ until the patch hit, and now when I invite my friends to come with me, while I can survive 3-4 mil hits, They just drop dead.

I’m hoping the community can answer this but while doing the water works delve at 8, We came across the Intrusive spore cap, kept one shotting my friends, Is that blast avoidable? and if it’s not…yikes.

Duos tier 8 seemed fine last night but definitely not easy. We completed all 4 with 570 fury warrior and 600 MW and lvl 35 Bran set to DPS level 4 idol of final will and amorphous relic. We were down to our last heart on 3 of 4 even pulling very slow. For us the challenge was refreshing but some of the mobs would be extremely frustrating if you run without a healer (Bran doesn’t count. He is infinitely better as a DPS)
