I’m not going to go deep into detail, i just hope the community has the same sentiment. Delves have ruined gear progression, M+, and raid environments for me. Even solo and under-geared, you can get 6+ Champion pieces a week while ensuring a hero vault. M0’s are flooded with new players hoping for hero vault and to be carried or just players learning dungeons in general. There just isn’t any ramp up anymore. Pushing into the 30’s for M+ was definitely too much grind, and the new system to keep keys is great, but now I have friends that would rather grind T11 delves for crests to get free 675 gear instead of doing actual rewarding content, which is then going to be trivialized due to just stat checking the dungeons at lower tiers & they wont have any understanding of the dungeon or raid mechanics. Idk… I wish heroic was harder than it is, M+ ramped up in difficulty slower, the jump between heroic and M+ wasn’t as drastic as it is, and I wish Delves were equivalent with Heroics; there is just no reason this kind of content should reward champ gear and hero vaults. They’ve basically become a necessity for anyone wanting to play M+ and they’re actually toxic in terms of time consumption for players trying to dedicate time to specific content.
thats one perspective
what if the other perspective of this system is to let people who play casually still able to express their skills during the last month of a season
during season 1, i was able to earn ksm after all the catch up mechanics, such as cyrce circlets, implemented during the last month of it.
i still had to put in minimal efforts weeks before that to reach 620 ilevel but the real push was just 3-4 weeks before the end of season which, personally, i found it liberating
edit: i just want to add the root cause of these systems in place is that blizzard made their end game content to be very dependent around item level. it is not adviseable even for the masochists to do content at lower than recommended item level. (i used to hate this item level for a long time, but just accept it later)
There is little that you said in regards to delves relationship to m+ that isn’t also true of m+'s relationship to raid. Raid lost many players to m+ because it was more accessible and m+ has been required for raiding for years. Delves finally allow casual raiders to gear up without the timesink of m+.
With Horrific Visions returning next month, solo content will be even more rewarding. Solo players will be able to get 2 more hero drops per week and completely farmable gilded crests. I expect them to increase the mechanical complexity of delves sometime in the future (possibly by integrating Horrific Vision mechanics) but rewarding solo content is here to stay. Just like the raiders of old, you’re going to have to adapt.
M+ is way more toxic than Delves ever will be.
Timer pressure, meta obsession, IO gatekeeping, ragequits over one mistake — and you’re calling Delves the problem?
Be serious. At least Delves let people play without getting flamed for existing.
Bro, if your friends would rather farm Delves than play M+ with you, that says more about you than the game.
At least I still run four +10s a week — only for the Myth gear, nothing else.
Get over yourself already.
I doubt very much they will increase delve complexity. Delves are meant to be a low cost low effort addition to the game. Increasing complexity would require more investment and would turn away the audience for delves.
Or you could run M+2 for infinite champion gear which are even easier, takes slightly longer but same result.
The major effect of delves has just been to make M0 irrelevant, even this season where it also drops champion gear.
easier? no.
Maybe a hot take, but I don’t think group size should be taken into account when thinking about difficulty vs reward. Operational overhead is a completely artificial barrier.
I think it’s in a better place now than last season. Delves probably need to cook a little more to be able to tune them better.
Here’s an even hotter take: People who play the game for fun should be able to get all of the unlocks. Just like any real competitive game. Pushing skill based content should award contextual accolades. Higher Io, HOF standing, feats of strength, etc. Not exclusive items.
I do kind of wish delves were more like horrific visions ormage tower. Or had a difficulty that was.
You can’t get all the unlocks in League of Legends without skill. Just swiping isn’t enough.
This is a really bad take lol your friends among others find delves rewarding so who are you to decide what classifies as “actual rewarding content”
Equipment is too easy to obtain, making RMT staff unhappy.
I’m compelled more than ever to read your post now.
they can express their skill without gear drops.\
we have mage tower for that.
Ah yes. A single 7 year old challenge per spec. That’ll certainly keep people subbed long term.
Most rational thing anyone has said.
the people you describe make the game objectively worse and we are better off without them, if we want to be real here. Designing for the bottom is a losing strategy. Blizzard understands this. Streamers broadcasting the game to millions of players is where the money is.
