Delves do not feel like World of Warcraft

This week I am doing a lot of Delves. Skipping M+ this week. Anyway, when I am just doing Delves on a character I feel like I zone out into a different world. It feels like a WoW themed mini game. Like something completely different from WoW. Yes I do them solo. But if I login and just go Delve to Delve, it no longer feels like I am playing WoW. If Delves were there own thing where you could level from start to max, and do nothing but Delves, I do think they could be a different game entirely.

They could be more “puzzle-like”, more “treasure find”, more versions and uniqueness… but Delves feel like they would work as a mobile game or just their own game entirely.

If I could level in Delves and gear in Delves and play WoW entirely as a solo player game, I could see WoW having a way that may not even need to require the internet but just be a downloadable standalone kind of game.

I’m on to you, undercover blizzard marketing employee

jokes aside, I love delves but I really can’t see them working as a standalone thing unless you brought the entire client over to said game anyway - and blizzard already struggles with multiplatform integration as it is

Delves feel like a great foundation. I could do with them upping the mechanics a little bit, but it’s a solid start what they’ve got here.

I also wish they’d go more in on the companion and give us greater customization and control over them to separate it out from the other content in the game. That and let us have a choice of companion rather than always Brann.

The same thing can be said about every single aspect of the game.

  • Raids
  • Mythic+
  • Delves
  • World Quests
  • Etc.

Honestly delves just feel like half dungeons to me lol

Delves just remind me of those old long quest holes like the night elf burrows or stromgarde, just more alive and having more interaction.

I like that they can break or simply not follow the same design of dungeons. There’s a lot of room to take these in a direction that is pretty wild and crazy since there’s no timer, no set rules, and honestly allows for a ton of creativity.

Could have racing Delves, Brawlers’ Guild Delve, PvP miniarena Delve, Escape Room Delves, Jump Puzzle Delves, Exploration with Harrison Jones, and so much more! Even miniraid boss Delves :open_mouth:

Oh MegaDelves! Delves with a touch of wild and crazy mechanics and a bit longer! Choose your own adventure pathways, but once you chose the path behind closes.

Because that is literally what delves are.

That’s funny.

Feels like I’m still playing WoW when I partake in them.

Weird. They feel like mini dungeons to me. You must not have played MoP. Scenarios were pretty similar to these. Scenarios were a blast too.

No thank you to “puzzle-like”. Treasure find? You sure you have been doing delves because there are plenty of treasures in them.

Also, sorry, but no. Delves don’t feel like a mobile game at all.

I enjoy delves but i would like them to become more like scenarios in terms of variety.
Dont get me wrong, i dont mind cave diving but i want more then just cave 23948

I always feel it’s still WoW. Becoz:

  • I am using my Hunter Toon
  • I am using all Hunter Toons’ abilities and utilities: Misdirection to Pet, Trap, Disengage, Feign Death
  • I am using the same buffs I made: Flasks, food buffs, potions
  • Brann is all WoW. His abilities are from new mechanics. Everytime he talks, it’s WoW.
  • Delves Bosses and Mobs are WoW. You can stun, interrupt them. Trick them with feign death. Fool them with Misdirection. And trap/slow/stun them like I toy a PvP WoW player.
  • You get random Powers from items like Torghast and Torghast is WoW.
  • if you feel Solo is not real WoW, do Delves as Group like a standard WoW: with Tank, Healer and DPS

Yes. That was my point, and what they were pretty much advertised as.

I guess I should have put the “/sarcasm” on my original post for more dense people, but I assumed the “lol” would be enough.

I don’t get how you figure they remind me a lot of scenarios crossed with the mage tower and torgast or however you spell it so they fit right there into WoW just fine and are a much better choice for endgame currently than doing pretty much anything else.

If I didn’t have to do world quests for little bits of rep currently to try and get through renown I’d spend all my time in delves that’s how much I love them.

I’ll tell you what doesn’t feel like Wow. Waiting in que’s to be grouped with hostile people.

Most people quest solo. Does that mean questing isn’t WoW? Professions are solo. We’re still in the world together, and you can still group up in delves if you absolutely can’t do anything in Wow solo.

I do wish Delves were a little more random…

  • Different layouts in each delve
  • More variety in opponents
  • More random powers
  • Random elites in the zones
  • More random chests in the zone instead of just one-time chests.

They are almost there but not quite.

Only one I disagree with is random powers. Hated that in torghast. Random elites in zones do happen though.

This is more so how I felt about wow remix and plunderstorm

I love Delves, but as others have said I would really like to see them expanded in their variety and mechanics. I would also like it if the abilities you get while in the Delves were expanded. I feel like Torghast had a bunch of really fun abilities that should be iterated on in Delves.

I can see that. I think it’s because you’re alone in the delve and there is no tank / healer / dps dynamic that tethers you to the massively multiplayer aspect of the game. But I accept that evil, personally. At least now there is a viable progression system for solo players, besides PvP.
