I was pretty excited to get an ilevel 649 heroic trinket off of the once/week delve map this week, and then I simmed it and discovered that despite the 30 ilevel difference, the Nogginfogger trinket is so bad that my season 1 619 champion trinket is significantly better.
Feels like some of the trinkets on the delve loot tables could use a tuning pass.
Some are also quite good, though. Not every trinket is a winner by design. A couple that come to mind are the Energy Drink, Funhouse crystal thing, the mechano one that is just a big stat stick.
Game design sort of necessitates some stinkers so the âgoodâ ones feel great by comparison.
Otherwise it just ends up either really vague and confusing if you dont sim, or if you do sim, so number-crunchy to get a trinket that it takes half the fun out of getting it when you end up âbeing forcedâ to ditch your cool trinket for a boring one halfway down the road.
Fwiw, I donât think the dungeon trinket pool is much better than the delve one this season. Everybody wants raid trinkets.
I think its okay to have outliers that are better than others, but donât think any should be so bad that a 649 season 2 item is worse than a 619 season 1 item.
Aye, at first Noggenfogger trinket was such a sweet i-level reward and then I saw the stats⌠wow. This thing needs another stat added to it and a boost to match its i-level number.
I wouldnât be able to begin to evaluate trinkets on my own, so I just look at the nerd rankings for them and yeah, it seems like in comparison to the S1 delve trinkets which were mostly rather good despite being capped at hero-track, the S2 delve trinkets went the other direction and are mostly pretty bad even compared to lower-level trinkets.
Are the S1 delve trinkets even available in S2? I got a candle confidant from a weekly box, but so far I havenât seen a S1 trinket from any of the delves Iâve run in S2.
The energy drink, quickwick candlestick, confidant, and ritual knife are all pretty strong contenders, even beating quite a few myth-track S2 trinkets despite being capped at hero track and they do still exist. Itâs just RNG getting them.
Im currently using this one from Delves. even at 639 is really good cause of the timer. 1m 30s lines up perfectly with all my CDs so itâs just a big boost macroâd in.
You just canât expect all the trinkets to be good or close to good. But there are some good ones out there.
What I donât like is how many of them are bad. I think way too many of them suck.
I honestly like the ones like Queenâs Mandate where itâs just a giant nuke on a 1 minute CD.
Just use Spymasters until you clear Heroic raid basically, thatâs the situation occurring.
Also whatâs weird is that Funhouse Lens isnât even on the trinket list for Shadow, but then you look at the trinket list and a lot of them are crit trinkets, so I dunno whatâs going on with the information we have access to.
I should just go back to looking at Bloodmallet and not trinket tier lists, even if itâs WoWhead.
Knowing what other resources are available for priests, I do find it odd how bare-bones the Wowhead guide seems to be. I dunno, maybe Wowheadâs guide system is to blame for why it feels so lacking compared to the one over on Icy Veins because both of these guides are maintained by big names in the priest community who know their stuff.
That being said though, thereâs also a list over on warcraftpriests thatâs the main thing I look at for comparing trinkets as a âbrain offâ tool since I donât care enough to sim my own character (which probably ends up making me chase after bad trinkets lol).
I do think it being a 90s cooldown is a factor, since that doesnât line up particularly well with shadowâs cooldown cycles. 60 or 120-second options generally look better but they still have to be good effects as well.
I dunno - stat sticks are boring and Iâve quite liked some of the interesting ones over the years.
Though consistently adding an OP trinket or two and a handful of total garbage trinkets (as in worse than last season items) each season is pretty crappy game design IMO.
