Delve soloing... how you guys do it?

… Without overgearing the tier you’re at?

I’ve finished leveling my mage to 80 and I’m hovering around the ivl600 with some entry pieces I got, but I was getting demolished as Fire in those solo Delves. (edit: +8)

Then I tried Frost, to see about kiting, but many mobs there are ranged casters, and most of the Delves have very limited kiting space (e.g. candle/totem or the ones with webs around you) even considering that you need to run into the potions often. It’s doable, but defnitely not smooth sailing.

There’s any really good tip I’m missing out? Like, for example with Shadow Priest, I thought it would be a struggle until I realized I could abuse Fade to drop aggro to Brann or the tendrils/mindbender (or a Mind Controlled unit).

Maybe 11.1 tank Brann may be a blessing to Mages? IDK if he can live without constant healing though, didn’t go into the PTR.

Use polymorph a ton. You’re going to have to invis out of fights sometimes after killing one or two mobs in the pack. picking up the potions brann drops is a must. you want to pick them up in a staggered fashion to keep the HoT rolling. You basically need to use mirror images to tank a lot of stuff. One trick is to use mass barrier before mirror images so that they last a little longer.

Thanks for the reply! It seems that you need to be really engaged to get through successfully, isn’t it?

Which spec you find the easiest? I presume it’s Frost with Spellslinger? One extra Mirror Image means more cooldown reduction on it with Reduplication. I assume, giving some time for them to die you’ll end up with more or less 1 minute of MI downtime?

I just did all 11’s as arcane but I was very geared for it. probably the worst spec to do it haha. Yeah I would say frost would be much easier. Having 5 mirror images was really nice.

You may want to consider swapping specs on a fight-by-fight basis. I’m just in the habit of playing arcane lately, it’s what I enjoy

Been a while, but as Fire lol there’s many cases where you just have to wait for CDs. As was already said, only use Mass Barrier with your images so they can tank. Otherwise you can Alter Time tank (briefly, lol). Energized Barriers is great to break out of any debuff that has a slow component (e.g. if it’s a DoT that also slows, you can negate it). Ice Cold >> Ice Block. Also best to run Frostfire for snares/Meteor/SKB. Invis is great for skipping anything unnecessary but using it on a final boss just resets the fight which is super annoying lol. I also prefer regular blink so you can get out of stuns. Also Alter Time giving you a free blink/Shimmer charge is super helpful in a pinch.

Take it slow and steady, there is no rush, Mirror images and polymorph is your friend. You can always wait for cd’s to comeback before you pull again. Focus one target at a time. Pick off the weak first. Mass barrier works on your mirror images to help them last longer. Alter time can help with kiting and acted as a makeshift heal. Shifting Power is for all mage spells, not just combat spells. Some places are going to be a lot easier than others. Hope you dont come across Zekvir without all your cds up. Hope these help!

I did tier 11 at 597, IIRC. Lots of polymorph and careful pulling, and when the elite Zekvir minions spawn and I couldn’t avoid them I’d run past and invis.

I used Frostfire, but Frost is definitely the way to go IMHO. Cold Snap is a godsend. I’d also suggest Reduplication for faster Mirror Image CDs and use Shifting Power generously.

FWIW, there’s no way I could’ve done the Kobyss delves at that ilvl. I did one of the Nerubian ones.

After you knock out T11, T8 feels like a cakewalk. To be fair, it wasn’t easy for me at that ilvl, I lost my bonus loot after dying one too many times (and not realizing that meant forfeiting the chest if you killed the boss). But it’s doable.

Yeah, I realized the underwater ones are the most annoying, because of many reasons, one of them being one extra thing to be aware and it’s breathing. I think out of the classes I play, the only one who solos the Kobyss ones easily is Warlock with Unending Breath.

Frost is definitely the strongest for delves, and well pretty much everything atm lol.

Most every delve mob can be slowed, you can just kite things across the whole map if you need to. Alter is even stronger in delves than anywhere too, so if youre altering properly you should be set.

599 frost stuck on tier 10. The mobs were the easy part; it’s always when I get to the final dude is when it all goes to crap for me. You can’t CC them, so that means nothing to me. Oh well, just wait for the patch and hope it becomes doable for me, because I don’t have time to run mythics, raids or farm high end gear.

There’s any change in the patch that you can use? You mean Brann in Tank spec?

I’ve heard he can’t self sustain very well.
