Not sure how any class without self sustain is supposed to solo delves. every boss does massive unavoidable damage in intervals shorter than most defensives, and usually require multiple defensives if you dont have a wall up. so theres that. then theres the fact that healing Brann, which is kinda the thing thats supposed to make it soloable for anyone, is useless. his heals are hot garbage, on top of the had the most insanely long CD, and he uses them on CD, which is usually right at the end of combat, or start. when you dont need it.
i clear t8s fine on my bear. its a challenge to rotate defensives properly. its fun, mostly. but its damn near impossible on my mage. im not some crazy expert mage, but the math aint mathing. 2 Icesblocks, cool. that covers 2 1 shots. barrier. nope. mass barrier. nope. mirror image, not really. alter. nope. cant alter a 1 shot. but if for some reason you manage to live a mechanic, your at like 5% hp permanently, until the boss looks in your general direction and you fall over.
im all for challenging content, but imo they missed the mark big time. ESPECIALLY because theres player power involved. its feels like when they were designing the deelves, they had a very specific class in mind they were designing for, and then tried to “one-size-fits-all” it. ex. one of the bosses had 2 lethal curses cast in quick succession. on my bear, it was entertaining to figure out how to deal with it, having only 1 dispel. but, they watched as my hunter friend solo’d it because the boss casts the curses on his pet, and he just revives it. wtf.
TLDR: delves feel super unfun, near impossible, depending the class youre playing.
Just set brann to dps, then kill the boss before it kills you. If brann is on the level curve (currently 38) he will even tank for you becauae his dps is insane. Let him die then pop defensives, he self rezzes. Repeat. Remember to mitigate unavoidables and carry healing potions.
there is 2 bosses i know of that do unavoidable damage. I think it’s the same spell forget it’s name though. want to say it’s insect swarm? It’s channeled and the AoE on it seems endless. When I face that boss I literally slow walk it saving all my runic power for death striking if my defensive cooldowns are down. It’s rough. can’t even interrupt it. Idk how classes without some sort of heal manages it…
Your Brann is probably level 15, that’s why you can’t solo everything. They want you to grind and level Brann. They want you to rely on the pet tech that has been the buggiest tech in the game since introduced.
@kalcifur my Brann is lvl 28. i try many different set ups (not currently around to look at specifics) but mostly running him damage, with the cheat death curio.
as far as mitigating, i feel like i broke down mage defensives and why its not enough. and healing potions are a 5min CD. that saves u from 1 boss mechanic.
@molecular Brann is 28
@hoshkar point and case. exactly what i said about hunters having it stupid easy because of pets.
@copperfield there is far more than just 2. yes, it is not ALL of them, but it is most. Kobold pulsing fire damage. swamp monster dude, pulsing something damage with a silence attached. Anub’Arak looking dudes with their stinging swarm. those are just the ones i remember, but they are the bosses for multiple delves each. and pooling your RP for death strikes is exactly what im talking about with imbalance. how does a mage do that? no self sustain and only 1 actually viable defensive.
Yeah, it is highly class dependent. But I think that’s been a thing for other stuff too. If a boss requires both high mobility and tankiness, my priest is in for a bad time.
The only thing I can say is that it’s not impossible, but it’s not fun either.
Like most people I don’t want things too easy but I can see people trying some of these and just bailing out.
On my druid I’ve run Brann in DPS mode for heals, dps, and tank, and the differences are all over the place. When I’m in tank mode, (iLvL 563, Brann lvl 17) brann does a bit more DPS than me - from 250-350k, some times 450k on big pulls when his CDs are available. When I switched to Resto, Brann pulls a max of 50k DPS, so my healer has 100% aggro 100% of the time. In DPS (feral), it seems all over the place. Some times Brann will hold aggro by out DPS’ing me, some times he’ll do 34k DPS, and I get wrecked. I can do 8’s while in tank mode, and can’t complete even 6’s in heals, and can’t complete 7’s (and some 6’s) in DPS mode. Very inconsistent.
Are we sure were doing the mechanics?
Cause i only today realised with Waxface that I’m meant to stand in poison to avoid his burn damage.
I think people might be expecting to complete content outside of their gear range and or blizzard hasn’t equipped players with a method to understand the mechanics of some delve mobs/bosses.
Like is there even a dungeon journal for delves so i can look at a boss and read about its spells?
Definitely possible on mage, just have to learn which parts of the huge defensive kit work best for a given damage event. I did an 11 with a 27 Brann, played frost for the double block, Brann picks up aggro when you block, invis, or kite for long enough giving you time to plan for the next event or chill waiting for images to come back up. Definitely want to pair big damage CDs with mirror images, and altering before a big event like swarm is necessary.
Yeah, embarrassingly that mechanic took me the better part of the week to figure out. Brann is a broken record when it comes to Nerubian webs, but he doesn’t seem to have any shouts that are actually helpful.
@froasted what?! when i invis, my brann also invis, or feigns. the fuq? and i did say that im not an expert mage. BUT, and i could be wrong, but I was under the impression that delves were intended for a little more casual audience, in which case this seems like it would be torture. if it was a mage tower style thing i would understand, but its not really.
@trucidario yeah. reeeeeally needs to be a delve journal.
As a Shadow Priest I’m still in awe and clueless how I managed to clear Earthcrawl Mines on T8. The end boss basically spams cast after cast and my interrupt is on a 45 sec CD. I got shredded by Web Bolts and repeatedly had some ticking debuffs on me that I couldn’t avoid. This was the most hectic, unfun and frustrating experience I’ve had in a long time in PvE content.
