But they arent breaking rules just by existing. Its a wow topic and doesnt break any rules. If you open that door then its open to ALL topics, which means any threads that get temp locked are up for being modded not because they break the rules but because people used the report system as a vote system to get it removed?
High Elf threads are not the only threads that have been temp locked. It would be a shame if a topic you were interested in was blacklisted by the community and mods were there to just shut it down whenever it appears.
Once again, there is a better and more personal system that can be used. High Elf megathread pops up → player goes and mutes said thread → player no longer sees it. If it doesnt get locked by the silly system then congrats it is gone until the 20k cap is reached and a new one is made, and chances are there wont be any other high elf threads to fret over since pretty much all the high elf talk will be in the megathread.
And if people are bothered by seeing the thread they should just mute it and move on with their life. Would be healthier than trying to dictate what people can discuss.
I am not doubting you, not really at least, it just keeps happening frequently enough that I find the thought that they are actually suspending people over slightly hard to believe. I think they should be, but I don’t know that I am convinced they are.
“That said, if we notice that someone is actively abusing the reporting system, we will take appropriate actions to discourage that behavior.”
I doubt they catch every single person who does it, and players may see mass flagging (one person using multiple toons) where there is just regular flagging, but we can only speculate really because they wont talk about it and its against the rules for players to talk about it.
people on GD have a habit of report spamming any post that doesnt agree with them and because blizzards report system is a flawed mess they get deleted more often than not
Shamefully copied from EU forums because it’s the only one I could find on search:
Go to your forum profile page by clicking anywhere on your avatar. For example, near the upper-right corner, click on your character’s avatar, and then click on your own name when it appears. You should have the following url loaded:
After that, add “.json”. And again, like the previous method – You will now have your full account loaded, and you’re ready to find out what trust level you have. Hit Ctrl+ F, and search for “groups”. Beneath that, you will find the trust levels that you have earned. It goes as follows: if you scroll down, you will find the names of the groups you’re in. Group 0 is trust level 0, this is also the name of the group. Group 1 is trust level 1. Group 2 is trust level 2, and so on. The highest trust level visible there, is your trust level .
You have to keep in mind that the forum “rules” are enforced arbitrarily. In fact, the single most randomly enforced rule is that “topics must be pertain to the World of Warcraft”…
For example, someone starts a thread about an event in a certain country. It gets 100 replies and all is well. Then, the very same day, someone posts about an event in another country and gets it immediately deleted and told that it was because it wasn’t WoW-related.
