When they announce the next expansion.

Little early to call this a dumpster fire though as far as expansions go so far it feels top 3.

Since they’re doubling down on Borghast and community ill will with the mythic plus change, I think it’s safe to call it a dumpster of some sort.

Gonna agree with Oceanspell. They won’t say yes or no to a 9.3 until the absolute last minute. And even then it will probably be buried in the Blizzcon Q&A after the 10.0 announcement.

Meaning Shadowlands is a top 3 expansion for you? I’m not so sure it’s a dumpster fire but this definitely doesn’t feel like a top 3.

Who knows I feel we were lucky that we even had a 8.3 given they cancelled 9.3.5, IDK if the game can survive not having a whole major patch though. Unless they intend to do a huge release for 9.2

9.3 is absolutely going to happen.

-Old god pulling the strings on the Jailer all this time (surprise surprise!!!)
-Renown cap upped to 120
-valor cap upped to 256,000
-floors 20-60 added to Torghast
-KSM now requires running each dungeon with every affix combo possible at +32
-flying now requires a maintenance fee of xxx,xxx gold monthly (which happens to coincide with the cost of a WOW token)
-and much much more!

9.2 will be 120 renown, so 9.3 will be 160.

You guys really shouldn’t be expecting another Legion to save WoW. The same people who made BFA and SL are going to be making 10.0.

Why do they have to confirm now, or at all?

They won’t confirm anything unless there is a preorder and/or six-month sub renewal involved (i.e., money to be made from it).

They will confirm the next expac (at the next Blizzconline?) and we will simply coast into that without need to mention 9.3.

At most, there may be a “surprise” 9.2.5 with system improvements if 9.2 is poorly received and 10.0 is a long way off.

“Oceanspell” legit sounds like it should be a new fragrance from CK.

It’s not bad enough to make you stop playing.

Well there’s a rare opinion to me. lol I haven’t heard that from anyone. I’m glad you like it, though.

For me, it’s dead last and has made me cancel my sub for the first time ever since I started playing in Vanilla.

Some point after 9.2 drops. There is zero reason to admit failure and an early abort of this expac at this early point. It would just cause a drop of confidence and more sub losses from people not interested in continuing to pay for something that Blizzard is cutting early. They’ll know internally by the time 9.2 rolls around whether they can do it or not and at that point they’ll have the choice of making a slightly larger 9.2 and wrapping up the stories or of going for a 9.2.5 instead that wraps things up.

I would say most likely not until 4-6 months after 9.2 drops will they reveal this fact. They’ll hope to have by then locked in new subs and six month commitments from people.

Also investors. No reason to upset the investors with bad news that hangs over the product for a year. Just drop it last moment after the new expac is in the news and then drop more info on the new expac within the next quarter to quietly bury the no 9.3 news.

Then again for all I know to save face they could very well deploy a patch called 9.3 but it would be a dishonestly renamed 9.2.5 in reality and not a real x.1 incrementing major patch.

Had potential to be top 3 if they were prepared with content. This drought has completely killed any hype for this expansion

October 2022 when ROTA pre-patch comes out.

Just have to wait and see what they do. Ion saying it won’t be “another WoD” but what specifically does he mean?

They could easily release a 9.2 and 9.3 just in very very stripped down forms. Think about 9.2 having class tuning and a raid but that’s it. Think about 9.3 having a single boss raid and small korthia-like daily quest only zone. Very possible for them to release like that. Would the fans like it? No. But it would let them say, “see, it wasn’t a WoD because we release 3 content patches”

I also see the scenario where they finally realize: we need EVERYONE working on 10.0 or we’re totally screwed. And then just pull the plug on 9.2 and 9.3. Maybe throw out a 9.1.5 single boss raid at the beginning of 2022 and put everything they have on 10.0

Both scenarios feel very probable to me which means the truth is probably something in between.

They never confirm anything.

I’m getting really tired of paying full price for half an expansion.

Especially when I have two accounts.

I was really mad when WOD ended w/ out faralon. I will not buy another Xpac if they “ditch” it. That’s just stupid. Giving us a long drawn out patch like 9.0 with digustingly horrible systems. NO THANKS
