That seemed so staged for me, like the old phrase “Drop the worse possible news first, then lift up the audience with slightly less events”. I wouldnt be surprised if most of the movie was finished, and they promoted the film by dropping a fake preview to drop expectations so low its easier to break, because the original Sonic was too hliariously out of proportions

And then disney will make a cringey movie with “ugly sonic” in it.

There’s no way that was staged. They had merch ready to go with the ugly default look. Also the trailer had quite a few different models for sonic because the cg wasn’t even finished yet

Sonic is an iconic character, they just rendered an unrecognizable model of him and people told them it sucked. Lol they changed it because it was straight up embarrassing.

I do feel bad for the animators tho. The higher ups wanted the ugly model. They didn’t. Were stuck working on it anyway. Then had to go thru wicked crunch to fix it.

Thankfully it paid off and now Sonic 1 and 2 are actually fun video game movies

Definitely recommend you get out more, because it’s not realistic for Blizzard to adhere to every whim put forward by the community. Many of them are straight up bad ideas. That said, I do think it’s a good idea for Blizz to at least listen to the substantive feedback they receive, and I definitely appreciate when they initiate a dialog with us, even when I don’t agree with them.

They bullied the artists on every platform until the studio made them go back and edit all their work. This wasn’t a fan win, this was genuinely disappointing.

People want honest interactions with Blizzard, but are unwilling to be honest in their descriptions.

Could Blizzard do better? Sure. Definitely.

But to imply they never listen to any feedback is just, so silly. That it stops the conversation right there. Because its that untrue.

It was more the higher ups that were mocked

They got their share, but I distinctly remember the crew list being distributed. It went from Funny Meme to people not being able to contextualize the fact the people who are working for the property they love are people.

Meh I saw more honest critiques from other cg artists. If I was just blind to stuff thats probably cuz i dont go on twitter.

No, you’re spot on with your point. Some companies show a willingness to listen, while others clearly have a history of literally not caring.

That was one of the best days ever on twitter. The snark was cosmic.

They didn’t do it for love of the audience, or to be true to the character. It’s because they realised they were about to release a humiliating financial disaster.

people actually liked Chip and Dale, it’s probably cringe to you because you’re an adult, but children actually loved it.

34 more nights until I need to remember.

Cool. I don’t care if kids liked it.

I’m saying the movie wasn’t meant for you.

It was a continuation of a tv show my generation grew up with. So yes. It was.

I also don’t recall kids being big fans of meta commentary like the film had.
