Deleted character limit?

Is there a limit on how many characters you can have deleted that will stay in the deleted list?

I hope not.

Bumping because I have no clue and I have lots deleted because of the 50 character cap. And is the website just not updated or something? I see all my deleted 28s that used to be 50ish from years ago.

I had this same question a while ago, and I believe the way it works is that the 50 character limit goes for both currently active and deleted characters. If the combined number of both types hits 50, every character you delete after that will be perma-deleted.

As a side note, characters below a certain level threshold will also be perma-deleted after a certain amount of time in the deleted section, but I have no idea what those thresholds are after the leveling squish that came with SL

blizz should allow us to skin low level alts to use as armor/crafting mats

:o

I’ve not seen any supporting info from Blizz that would support that theory. That said, if you do have something that supports this, I would absolutely be interested in seeing it. It’s not something that comes up often, so I admittedly could have missed a post/support article on it!

From the threads I have seen in the CS forums, there’s no limit other than the level of the character playing a role in how long the data is stored for. Details are here:

The character undelete system is in-game and not on the website. Are you referring to the armory by chance? If so, keep in mind that the data there goes stale if you don’t log into your character in a very long time or if the name of the character is released/used by someone else too.

I always thought that they exist infinitely in a delete database. Which, btw, I’m guilty of adding to on a weekly basis

The way I found it out was by deleting a max level character back in BfA, and having it not show up in my deleted characters list. I admit that I used to use the deleted list as additional character storage, to shelve classes that I didn’t enjoy as much at the time and wanted to save for later. I have seen the error of my ways, and I don’t do this anymore.

Anyways, when I tried to undelete the character a few weeks later, they didn’t show up on my list. I was quite annoyed, and took to the forums to ask around (not quite skilled enough at the forums to find and link the old post). The 50 character limit applying to deleted characters was suggested by a couple of other players, and sure enough, when I went to go count, my total numbers of characters, both active and deleted, was exactly 50. So nothing official has been stated by Blizzard, it’s just player driven research.
