There is a SoD Subforum, post this there.

Agreed, but Blizzard seems to be moving stuff so hopefully they get this one too.

I think that for Wrath and it’s style of play, that’s totally fine. However, the vanilla gameplay style (that SoD is clearly intended for) revolves around threat being a central game mechanic. When I take a step back and analyze how I interpret the design, it looks like Blizzard took two paths with regards to threat and separated them for each faction.

Alliance - Reduced threat to create more space for damage.
Horde - Increased damage and burst potential at the expense of threat.

Whatever your views on how this played out and the current meta, the bottom line is that this very much seems intentional and it’s also something that I find interesting. I kind of wish it was embraced more but it just isn’t right now and I think a large part of that is because of player perception.

The top guilds chasing the best parses have transitioned towards Alliance. I suspect in large part because Salv just opens up more flexibility, whereas Horde would have to spend more time monitoring their threat. Still, people did just fine on Horde in 2019 before Alliance “won” and indeed, people did just fine back in Vanilla too. What’s best for the top guilds doesn’t have to be what’s best for the rest of us average Joe players.

So with all that said, I find the fact that threat mechanics is an intentional part of this version of the game’s design to be very interesting. Later verions moved away from it but it’s still here, and having it be a part of SoD is compelling to me. I’d prefer not to have the Wrath version, since it’s more of an emergency button for when people get really out of control, and is generally offset by tanks just doing a lot more threat than they do in Vanilla.

I’m not saying you’re wrong here, just offering my own thoughts and insights

Horde don’t have increased damage and burst potential if they’re threat capped. That’s the whole point of the threat faction problem.

“Managing” your threat and doing increased damage don’t happen together. You have to choose. Alliance doesn’t have to choose. They just straight up get 20% reduction to threat and so they can do a lot more damage.

Oh my god you magnificent creature. They added one!

I’ll repost it there and delete it here.

This is no longer Horde specific now that druids have a superior version of Windfury.

I’ll move my response over to your new thread
