Pbbly not advetising coz maybe they found classic might just be a super niche thing among the playerbase. This wuld be in line with the last stress test only filling 2 servers pretty much out of a dozen(not sure the exact number here) and it was open to the entire playerbase. I dunno im just spitballin here… perhaps the 2 blizzcons were enough
It will definitely be a lot more niche than it could have been if they don’t start advertising.
That’s strange, I heard early access on the 24th
I checked the bfa ads “It matters” that were posted on warcrafts yt channel and they came out on july 25th while bfa launched 14 aug. So according to that classic culd still get some advertising in the coming weeks.
When has Blizzard ever delayed a game after giving a release date? Never.
If you could find a single example of Blizz ever pushing back an announced release date then I might worry.
I think we’re pretty safe
I was watching last evening until I went out. Saw Method get to 18% once, and Limit was going hard although I don’t know what their best was at that point. They were still perfecting their strategy. I’m going to watch today; I actually have it on now, waiting for Method to start.
nah its coming out, if anything they have been testing raids while we have been left in the dark
Same here. I had a whole year where I could have taken vacation but I have to work that week and will be away from home for it. I’d be ecstatic if they delayed it but I know they won’t
Don’t care. I’m hoping they revert to the original “it’ll be released when it’s ready” instead of just meeting some artificial, self-induced deadline where they throw anything out the door, ready or not.
That’s the part that scares me. Meeting a deadline instead of just making it the best it can be. We’ve all either experienced or seen video of problems that seem pretty big. Classic is my last hope for Blizzard, if they push it out in the same buggy state as BFA, I’m tossin in the towel.
I tossed in the towel (quit caring) long ago. I’m hoping Classic gives me a reason to retrieve it and start caring about the game again.
All they have to do is modernize the code they made 15 years ago. It shouldn’t take this long. 3rd parties have done so on private servers with much less resources.
All the “bugs” you see on beta are from deliberate game breaks intended to trick us in thinking the game isn’t ready.
I kinda hope it is. I also hope that it is delayed until the next content lull in BfA, as Classic is just a side-game for subscribers of BfA and something for them to do during content lulls.
Uh, no. It’s a lot more complicated than that.
Also, you seem to be unaware that private server code (MaNGOS) has been years in the making, is constantly evolving, and the servers that up to now have been considered accurate spent ages on research.
Blizzard started out with actual 1.12 backup code, and yep, they “modernized” it by getting it to work with the current World of Warcraft system. This was so they could use modern security features, put it on the launcher, and all that. The rest of the time spent has been in fact cleaning up old bugs and putting on “Blizzard polish”.
To be honest, they’ve spent less time on this project than the years spent on MaNGOS. Sure, they probably could have thrown a working version of Classic up six months ago and walked away. But it would have looked like a buggy private server and that’s not what they’re about here.
Not sure why anyone who has been a part of ANY of Blizzard’s hot flaming mess releases would think they will push the date back. Unplayable lag, servers melting, logon queues in the billions maybe, but it will for sure release when they say.
Welp, M Azshara is down, so maybe we’ll get some announcements this week for real.
Did Vanilla get an announced stress test?
Three days before they were live is when we got lists…

Lol but anyways tin foil hat time.
The last stress test is an “early release”.
On Aug 13,name reservations day,the servers will actually go live for 24 hours allowing you to play 1 (one) of your 3 reserves for that 24 hours and cont. where you left off at launch.
Mixed feeling on this. People have made plans per the release date and to shift initial true launch play time to the name release date wouldn’t make many people happy.
