You guys also have to look at this from a “business” perspective. What two (2) MAJOR titles are coming out in November?..give up
Assassins Creed: Valhalla - November 10, 2020
Cyberpunk 2077 - November 19, 2020
I’m 100% certain Activision/Blizzard has thought this through for months in advance when both titles had their release date confirmed. This gave Blizzard the “business” opportunity to release Shadowlands prior to those 2 titles hitting the shelf. Think about it, 2 1/2 weeks of Shadowlands, brand new expansion, hype through the roof (may not be for everyone). Everyone knows when you crack open that fresh expansion, there’s SO much to do even weeks to months of gaming. This is also psychological as well. You get so immersed in Shadowlands, you tend to forget about Assassins Creed or Cyberpunk, but, you want to play them just as much as WoW. Sure, you’ll put down WoW for a bit, but burning in the back of your mind, you’re losing out, you’re falling behind everyone else, you guild and friends are raiding, getting into M+ while YOU’RE behind the power curve. See, that’s how games, especially MMORPG affects your brain.
Sure, Cyberpunk 2077 will be a whole new type of experience, somewhat that of the likes of Death Stranding type of gameplay, but it’s has a whole new monster of playstyle which separates Cyberpunk from Death Stranding. Another game FULL of immersion, but, which game do you know better? The time you’ve invested in WoW, the excitements of each day wanting to lock urself away to play nothing but Shadowlands yet these 2 titles still linger.
So, again, from a business perspective, Blizzard did this the smart way. Any delay in Shadowlands release will cost Blizzard time and money to beat their competitors. This way when Shadowlands is out 2 1/2 weeks prior to Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassins Creed, gives Blizzard economical advantage. Think about it.
