Is the craft order system defunked? I am working on an alt and there no orders in the leatherworking section. Did that system die already?
New expansion releases in about a month.
Not many player are going to want to craft gear that will be replaced with quest gear that soon.
Especially if it’s going to cost alot of gold.
We want to save our gold for the warband bank tabs and other new goodies
Just get you professions to max level and don’t worry much about getting all the DF recipes unless you are a collector.
Your LW will be much more lucrative in about a month.
If you mean public work orders, that system died for all professions about 3 months into DF launch. Blizz is addressing the issue by creating NPC public work orders in TWW. The way everybody has been getting around the problem the entire DF expac is by using alts to send private work orders to your other toons. This allows for quest completion.
Public work orders from players have always been very rare to find.
NPC orders will be coming for TWW content.
No, not “defunct,” as the system is still in place and useable. Just not going to see orders in the cooldown stage between xpacs.
I was able to get my weekly “craft three” for smithing before TWW pre-patch without having to resort to the alt trick - though some weeks I would because I didn’t have high smithing . This week without really trying I’ve completed two orders, though one was private/personal.
Aww, but I like how OP spelled it. Made me think it was like a Bootsy Collins album but instead of him wanting to get his funk on, he was now exploring prog rock
Worked fine for me.
Jump on an alt and send your leather worker a personal order.
As Adina said, not many people are looking for gear now that we’re at the end of the expansion and the new one launches in a month.
I had hoped that NPC crafting orders, which are coming with TWW’s crafting, would have also been made available for Dragonflight, but no dice there it seems. Sadly, that means as of right now, there’s no way to reliably skill up to 100 for Dragonflight professions. But if you’re only trying to do the crafting orders weekly quest, you can do that easily enough by getting on an alt and sending your leatherworker a private order for stuff they can easily make.
yea, works fine for me also
I’ve made enchanting and alchemy stuff for lots of other people.
and lots of others have made stuff for me, necklace, gems, profession gear for everything…I even got all the good fishing stuff
I’ve got public orders and lots form trade chat.
Public orders go fast. When I’m in Vald I stand at the work table and chat in /1 or /2 while I wait for orders.
Gotta be quick though cuz others are doing the same thing
Honestly wasn’t trying to spell correct. Quoting the word was just proper grammar, and I didn’t want to misspell it myself.
Oh I don’t mean to throw shade. Was just having some fun. I didn’t take any issue with it in general.
Unfortunately, the whole thing is turning into a mission table for professions.
If you want real crafted gear, at the right quality, and with a negotiated reasonable price then you need to contact another player and create a private order instead of relying on the public order system.
On my server it never really was a functional system during the entire expac. It was perpetually plagued by scammers and people posting ridiculous crafts. Either that or there were no crafting orders listed.
How do you scam a crafting order?
You list an order where you trick people into using mats that are worth far more than the order rewards. Lots of people got tricked by that before enough rage was piled onto blizz that they eventually introduced the additional warning confirmation dialogue boxes.
Sure there were some innocent folks thrown into the mix. But it didn’t take long for the scammers to catch wind of it. So the typical routine would be to trick people into crafting your order at a loss, then dump whatever it was onto the AH for a tidy profit.
I have no idea how anyone gets tricked into using mats. But the UI for crafting orders sucks, so there is that.
I just refuse any public order that doesn’t proved all mats.
Oh it was definitely a crafter beware sort of problem no doubt. But people are dumb and so are easily tricked. My addon automatically tells me what the value of the crafting mats are for any particular order so it’s very easy for me to see if someone is offering insufficient reward for an order. But not everyone uses such add-ons or checks carefully.
I really wish they’d revamp the crafting order UI. Buttons are in weird places. All of the empty space, the weird way to look at orders, etc.
